Hallmark Channel News – Christmas Movie About The Rockettes

It was Hudson Valley Film that recently shared a casting call on Instagram. They referred to a Hallmark movie “set in 1957 about a woman who dreams of becoming a Rockette much to her family’s dismay.”

Meanwhile, filming will start at the end of January and through February in the Albany, Newburgh, Beacon and Staatsburgh regions of New York State. The casting call asked for Hudson Valley locals to complete a casting call form.

Meanwhile, it has been reported by Poughkeepsie Journal that the movie will be titled “A Christmas Spectacular.” The report quotes Laurent Rejto, director of the Hudson Valley Film Commission speaking about the upcoming movie project: “We were glad to hear from (casting director) Hilary Greer that she got a massive response to the call for background actors,” Rejto said.

It turns out filming has already been carried out at New York City’s Radio City Music Hall, so it looks like this Hallmark movie is definitely on the way. Meanwhile, the film commission is also seeking local people who have a picture car from the late 1940s to early 1950s as props for the movie.

Hallmark Channel News – About the Rockettes

The Rockettes were inspired by a British dance troupe and were founded in 1925. The dance group started with 16 women, but today has grown to include 36 dancers. The Rockettes had many performances in the 1950s at the Radio City Music Hall, when the movie is to be set. In fact, there were so many that the dancers often worked, ate, and slept in the music hall, where they had access to 26 beds, a cafeteria and even a hospital.

As noted by Heavy, the Rockettes first appeared on TV during the 1950s and enjoyed their first performance at the Thanksgiving Day Parade in 1957 – the year in which the movie is to be set, which makes it even more exciting.
