‘Over the Moon in Love’ reunites ‘90120’ alums Jessica Lowndes and Wes Brown. ‘Home & Family’ hosts Debbie Matenopoulos & Cameron Mathison sat down with Jessica to talk about the upcoming Hallmark Channel original movie, part of the network’s Fall Harvest movie presentation.
In addition to portraying Brooklyn, owner of the matchmaking service, Over the Moon In Love, Jessica Lowden also served as executive producer. Jessica revealed to Debbie and Cameron that the making of the Hallmark Channel film “was a gratifying experience.”
Jessica’s character Brooklyn has a 100% success rate as a matchmaker and is trying to land the cover of Life/Style Magazine. Determined to find Stephanie Carlton (Miranda Frigon), the magazine’s writer, the perfect match, she introduces Stephanie to Devin, who just happens to be Jessica’s high school sweetheart.
Stephanie and Devin have absolutely nothing in common, and Brooklyn needs to keep them focused on each other. The multi-talented actress explained that it’s a lot like Cyrano de Bergerac. “I saw it in high school and fell in love with the whole premise, so it’s a modern take on that, set in the world of matchmaking and dating apps.”
“I couldn’t write a script without some sort of musical element. Wes Brown’s character is a singer, so that was really fun for me. I got to write all the original music for [‘Over the Moon in Love’],” Jessica revealed to Debbie and Cameron.
It wasn’t easy writing the script, the original music and portraying Brooklyn. “It was one of those experiences that was hard. To actually see it get made? There were days I didn’t know if it was going to happen.”
Brooklyn is faced with a dilemma as those feelings she had for Devin, and he for her, from high school begin to resurface. Does she ignore that she is falling in love with her high school sweetheart or does she continue to push Stephanie and Devin together?

During the Home & Family interview, Jessica had the opportunity to talk about her dad, whom she greatly admires. It has been a dream of the actress’s dad to be a drummer, and Jessica cast him as Joe. “He never picked up drumsticks in his life, and then he kind of realized he actually had to play the drums [when he arrived on set].” Jessica also cast her uncle in the Hallmark original movie.
‘Over the Moon in Love’ makes its world premiere Saturday, October 5, 2019 at 9:00 p.m. ET on Hallmark Channel.
