Hallmark Movies Being Pushed Back Over Coronavirus (COVID-19) Pandemic

Just at a time when many of us are self-isolating with our families at home, Candace Cameron Bure has delivered some bad news.

As countries in the world wake up to the dangers of coronavirus and COVID-19, many people are forced to stay at home. While you can’t go to movies, restaurants or bars, the Hallmark Channel is the go-to option to keep us entertained and happy.

Hallmark Channel productions are on shutdown

However, even the Hallmark Channel is being challenged by the pandemic. A number of television and film productions have shut down for the time being to keep cast and crew safe. Now, Candace Cameron Bure has delivered some bad news that Hallmark is doing the same.

As reported by Entertainment Tonight, Candace recently spoke about how many of the Hallmark productions are being affected, including the project she is currently working on. She told ET they were in the middle of filming a new Aurora Teagarden mystery for the Movies and Mysteries Channel. They were literally one week into the production of the movie when they were shut down.

While that is bad news for Hallmark fans, Candace said she was very happy they had made the decision to shut down. She said it was the right decision to protect everyone involved and their families.

During the interview with ET, which was held via video chat, Candace went on to say she immediately left Vancouver and traveled home to her family. Initially, they are hoping to be able to start production up again within two or three weeks. However, after watching the bad news every day, she can’t see that happening.

What other Hallmark productions are being shutdown?

The Hallmark Channel shoots a number of films at a time, so fans can expect the shutdown to affect other films besides the Aurora Teagarden movie. While it is still far away, everyone now has to hope they have completed the Christmas movies prior to the shutdown. As they always say, time flies when you are having fun!

Candace was asked if she had any idea when she might start working again and she said she wasn’t sure. She said there’s no timeline as the news changes every day. They are all in communication with each other but so far there is no positive news. Calling it a “waiting game”, Candace said she doesn’t think they will have any answers for at least another 10 days.

The Hallmark shutdown only makes good sense, however, as several Hollywood stars have recently become ill with COVID-19. So far, we have heard about Tom Hanks and his wife, Daniel Dae Kim, Rachel Matthews and Idris Elba going down with the bug. Both cast and crew definitely need protection from this.

Fortunately, the Hallmark Channel has a pretty good back catalog of movies, so there will always be something to watch. Right now, the We Need a Little Christmas movie marathon is running and will last through Sunday this week at 6 pm EST. Stay safe and keep watching the Hallmark Channel to see the movies and series we all love.
