Following the recent SAG-AFTRA strike, many actors have revealed details about their pay. Now the strike is over, more money is doing the rounds, leading to some interesting questions. In this case, an interesting question produced a surprising response.

As most fans of Hallmark Channel know, in past years working for Hallmark wasn’t exactly prestigious. However, starring in a Netflix series or movie was considered the better option. In his interview with Daniel Tosh, Macfarlane sets the record straight. Meanwhile, he has starred in more than a dozen Hallmark movies, while he also starred in Netflix’s Single All The Way.

In the interview, Daniel Tosh asked Luke the big question. He wanted to know where the Catch Me If You Claus star gets a bigger paycheck – is it the feel-good channel or Netflix? Tosh mentioned that Macfarlane had starred in Single All the Way on Netflix and asked the actor if that gave him a bigger paycheck than his Hallmark work.

Meanwhile, Luke had a quick response in the form of a one-word answer, “Smaller.”

Moreover, as Tosh continued asking him more questions about how well Hallmark pays, Macfarlane nodded in confirmation. Moreover, he also revealed that his rate “goes up” as he continues to work for the network, saying:

It’s a nice thing. They have to air a certain amount of time before you start getting [any money]. As you know, they air them a lot. So, if you end up doing one of the ones that hits and is popular, it gets aired more and more. So, you eventually get residuals.

About Luke Macfarlane’s career with Hallmark

Macfarlane has been cast by Hallmark many times and his movies usually do very well. For example, this year’s Catch Me If You Claus, where he starred opposite Italia Ricci, was the ninth most-watched Countdown to Christmas movie in 2023 where it attracted 2.05 million viewers.

However, back in 2018, Luke starred with Candace Cameron Bure in A Shoe Addict’s Christmas. That movie saw a huge 4.24 million viewers. This led Tosh to ask Macfarlane about residuals from the movie and whether he got any.

However, Luke had no response to that question, saying, “I don’t know if I’ve gotten any.”
