Hallmark star Alexa PenaVega explains Hawaii move
While promoting their new memoir, and their new Hallmark movie coming on Saturday, Alexa PenaVega explained their move. She revealed that the move to Hawaii came after Carlos was experiencing a rough spot in his acting career.
She told Fox News that Carlos was really struggling with the industry. In fact, every audition he went on, it ended up between him and one other guy. Unfortunately, the other guy would always get the part. Saying this went on for a full year, Alexa explained that the rejection was becoming too much for him. She added:
At the time, I was pregnant [with Ocean]. We’d always talked about moving to Hawaii, but later on in life, like a retirement plan.
Thinking of the PenaVega Kids
However, the Hallmark star added that the move also coincided with their expanding family. In fact, together, she and Carlos felt their children would do better raised elsewhere. Alexa said they knew they didn’t want to raise their kids in Los Angeles, adding:
I felt this tug in my heart. I felt it was God going, ‘You guys need to get out of here. It’s time.’ I didn’t want to move. I knew it was the right decision, but it wasn’t something that I was so excited about.
While Alexa knew it was good for their kids, she did have qualms about making such a big move. She said you would think Hawaii is so exciting, however, she loved LA. Alexa also loved her career and didn’t really want to go.
Hallmark actress Alexa PenaVega and the big move
PenaVega said that, at the time, she felt like they were moving for Carlos. However, she said that one day she was praying in her car and suddenly had a revelation, adding:
I felt like God was preparing us for this move, and we weren’t moving for Carlos. We were moving for my heart.
She revealed that she was the one trapped in the entertainment world and needed to take a step back. Alexa said her job had become her identity.
God pulled me out of that so I could learn how to be an awesome mom and an awesome wife. God helped us build that foundation in our family. And once I had that revelation, I felt at peace.
