Hangin’ With Mr. Cooper alum, Mark Curry, posted a video on his Instagram, revealing a racial profiling incident at a Colorado Hotel. On seeing the video, Holly Robinson Peete quickly sent her support to her former Hangin’ With Mr. Cooper costar.
In a Twitter thread on Saturday, Peete called the incident unacceptable and “so disrespectful,” adding:
There was no reason for Mark to be singled out except for the fact that he’s a Black man. I’m so sorry this happened.

Mark Curry and Mining Exchange A Wyndham Grand Hotel & Spa
While on his latest comedy tour, Curry stayed at Mining Exchange A Wyndham Grand Hotel & Spa in Colorado Springs. Moreover, as he sat in the lobby enjoying a cup of coffee, a man approached him. Mark said the man identified himself as the head of security for the hotel and asked if he was a hotel guest.
In the comedian’s 26-minute video, the man refused to leave his post until he could confirm that Curry was a guest at the hotel. In the video, Curry says:
If you’re Black and you’re in Colorado Springs, you can’t be in the lobby. Wow! This is crazy, isn’t it?
Meanwhile, another hotel employee accused Mark of using the “race card” while being questioned by the employee. Meanwhile, Curry documented the employees as they followed him around the hotel.

Later in the clip, he approached the front desk to tell the receptionist that he wanted to contact the police. Curry explained this as a man who identified as security refused to show any identification and was following him around the hotel. The comedian told the employee:
I would like to call the police on this guy for following me. I don’t know who he is.
Meanwhile, the employee at the desk told Curry the man was one of their engineers. She said he inquired if the comedian was a guest “for safety.”
In his video, Curry said from his hotel room, “A Black man can’t go nowhere in America.” In fact, he said he would be leaving the hotel and incorporating the incident into his next comedy set.
He captioned the video, writing: “Black man and a Hotel Lobby it’s impossible that he has a room here. No, I have a suite! He walks up to me with no badge on. I don’t know who this man is. And asked to see my hotel key Wyndham racism.719-323-2000 call them please Jhon Crab head of security and head of maintenance at the same time.”
Entertainment Weekly reached out to the hotel for comment and a representative explained that the Mining Exchange is “committed to providing a safe and inclusive space for all guests and employees.”
Meanwhile, the hotel’s statement said, “We deeply regret this incident and have reached out to Mr. Curry to offer not only our sincere apologies but a full refund of his stay and an invitation to return, at no cost, anytime in the future.”
