As every fan of Hallmark Christmas movies knows, the feel-good channel loves to film in beautiful, iconic places in the world. While nowadays, many of their movies are set in exotic foreign locations, many are also filmed closer to home. Meanwhile, this is true of a movie with the title Mystic Christmas, currently being filmed in Mystic, Connecticut, USA.
Hallmark Christmas movie to feature ‘Olde Mystick’ village locations
As reported on Wednesday by the WTNH News-8, Hallmark Channel is busy filming yet another movie in Connecticut. However, this one is a little different, as the movie, with the working title “Mystic Christmas,” is set in Olde Mystick Village.
A famous part of the town of Mystic, Connecticut, this makes an ideal spot for filming. Meanwhile, it reportedly will also highlight actual attractions and businesses in Olde Mystick Village.
Reportedly, Synthetic Cinema, a company based in Rocky Hill, was filming at Mystic Aquarium recently. This will, apparently be a location integral to the film’s storyline. Other places that shut to the public during filming include Mango’s Pizza. Mango’s made the proud announcement that they are a filming location on their Instagram page.

Who is starring in Mystic Christmas?
So far, no hint has been given as to who will star in the new, upcoming Hallmark Christmas movie. However, WTNH News-8 did tease a possible connection between the movie and the 1980 classic movie, Mystic Pizza, starring Julia Roberts.
This isn’t the first time holiday movies have been filmed in Connecticut in recent years. In fact, earlier in 2023, filmmakers were seen in New Milford and Bethel. Moreover, one of the movies being filmed is set to be titled Holly Jolly.

Fans of Hallmark holiday movies will recall Ghost of Christmas Always, which aired last year and was filmed in Hartford and West Hartford. The previous year, Hallmark filmed Sugar Plum Twist in both New London and Norwich.
Back in 2020, Hallmark Channel filmed the music and holiday-themed movie, One Royal Holiday in Putnam, Hartford and Woodstock. Moreover, the 2019 movie Holiday For Heroes, was set in several southeastern Connecticut locations. Prior to that, Hallmark shot the 2018 movie, Christmas on Honeysuckle Lane in Wethersfield, Connecticut.
Currently, fans are concerned that the WGA writers’ strike might put a spanner in the works of some of Hallmark’s holiday productions. However, at least we do know that some Christmas movies are actively being filmed right now.
