Still, as Hearties rejoice at their love story, the finale to this season offered a shocking cliffhanger when Mountie superintendent Andrew Hargraves (David Lewis) informed Elizabeth he had something to tell her about her late husband, Jack Thornton (Daniell Lissing).
When Calls The Heart Season 12 – Could Jack Thorton Return?
Hearties have been buzzing about a possible Jack Thorton return, since the Hallmark drama aired its finale on Sunday, June 23. Could he still be alive?
Jack collided to his apparent death in WCTH’s Season 5 during a landslide. His body was said to be found, but could there have been a mistake?
Lindsay Sturman, WCTH’s showrunner recently spoke with TV Guide. During the interview, she notes that “Jack is not coming back.” She adds that, the series does want to keep his memory alive.
Sturman notes, “From the beginning of the show, it was a story about widows and for Little Jack, as he’s hitting these milestones growing up, how does Elizabeth keep Jack alive for Little Jack and hold his memory and the complexity of that when she’s in a new relationship?”
Sturman also states, “It was a way to complicate [Elizabeth and Nathan’s] new situation, which ends on a sweet note and then, oh no, there’s this new complexity. It can’t always be simple.”
“WCTH”, Season 12 – What Should Fans Expect
While there’s no premiere date set in stone as of yet, production for WCTH will start in July 2024, with Season 12 likely starting up in the first quarter of 2025.
Looks like while Nathan and Elizabeth are a bonafide couple, they’ll have to hurdle through some obstacles next season, including Jack’s memory.
Will the two be able to ease through these issues or is there trouble on the horizon for them? Fans will have to tune in to find out!

Maybe the rock slide wasn’t an accident but done on purpose to injure or kill the Mounties. So Jack’s death was murder.
You spelled Thornton wrong. In my opinion this showrunner must be a Nathan/Elizabeth fan.
Could Jack Thornton be alive and kicking? Dun dun dun
Didn’t like this. Still and will always be team Lucas. There was all this build up with him about not knowing what you had until someone tries to take it and seeing what’s right in front of you, as in get Elizabeth back, only for Hallmark to yet again slam on the brakes and have it go nowhere. Ugh! And why is Nathan still around after all the really awful stuff he’s done?
