When Calls The Heart – What’s Wrong With Bill Avery?
Fans know Bill is a workaholic. So, when he gets hit with a cough, he dismisses it as expected. He has other more important things to deal with in Hope Valley, thanks to Wyman Walden (Wesley Salter).
Later on, Bill experiences more symptoms, such as breathlessness. He decides to schedule a consultation with Faith Carter (Andrea Brooks) after he coughed up blood. Faith tells him to seek a second opinion and get an X-Ray in Union City. But Bill doesn’t listen.
Faith grows concerned about Bill’s condition since she believes he’s experiencing an early stage of pneumonia. She tries to find new medicines to relieve his cough. After his condition worsens, she’ll let him use a nebulizer and advise him to rest.
Faith and Molly Sullivan (Johannah Newmarch) ask Bill to go to Union City for a health checkup, and he complies. He’s not sure what will happen to him, so he decides to leave his legal will to Elizabeth before leaving.

When Calls The Heart – Will Bill Avery Return To Hope Valley?
Based on the latest events, fans may expect Bill’s temporary absence in Hope Valley. Hearties may start to wonder if he’ll come back. He’s made a lot of promises before he left, so there’s a huge possibility that he’ll return.
Molly will hint something happened between her and Bill while on the way to Union City. Viewers know that she has strong feelings for him. It’s possible that he promised to return to her alive and well and probably explore a romantic relationship.
As for Elizabeth, he tells her that the legal will is just a backup in case something happens to him, but he doesn’t plan to go anywhere soon aside from getting the treatment he needs in Union City. Bill also promised to help Henry out of prison, so he’ll surely return to help him get out of jail.

WCTH’s co-executive producer and writer, Elizabeth Stewart, dropped some hints about what viewers can expect in the next season.
As for Bill’s status, Stewart said, “Bill has had a wake-up call with his health. If there is a season 10, he’ll have to make some big changes in the way he’s been leading his life.”
