Every year, fans look forward to the popular Kitten Bowl on Hallmark Channel. It is the perfect annual Super Bowl alternative for non-sporting fans and their children and found homes for many lucky felines. However, news is out that Hallmark Channel is canceling the popular programming event. Now, reportedly, GAC Family is eyeing Kitten Bowl for itself.
Hallmark Channel News – Is the Kitten Bowl Moving To GAC Family?
Each year, Hallmark Channel hosts the country’s most beloved rescue pet adoption event, Kitten Bowl, coinciding with Super Bowl. Last year’s special premiered on the network on Sunday, February 7, 2021.
Last year’s show was again hosted by TV personality, author and animal advocate Beth Stern from Hallmark Channel Stadium. Meanwhile, Cameron Mathison and Tamera Mowry-Housley from Home & Family were her co-hosts. Meanwhile, as always, Kitten Bowl VIII was popular with fans and lovers of kittens everywhere.
However, the news is now out that Hallmark Channel has canceled the annual Super Bowl alternative programming. In the meanwhile, Bill Abbott, former Hallmark Channel President and CEO and boss of GAC Family is looking at bringing the event to the new network in 2023.
Hallmark Channel News – Is ‘Proud To Have Been A Part Of’ Kitten Bowl
A Hallmark Channel spokesperson said in a statement that while they are not currently developing original animal-centric programming, the network is pleased to support partners like North Shore Animal League America. The statement added that this was part of Hallmark’s commitment to social responsibility initiatives.
Meanwhile, Bill Abbott posted on Twitter in response to fans who were upset about the Kitten Bowl cancelation.

As noted by People, Abbott wrote, “Kitten Bowl was a passion project that everyone involved will always be deeply proud to have been a part of.”
He tweet continued, “Grateful we were able to find fur-ever homes for so many. Please continue to support Animal League in their mission to find all these animals loving homes. #GetYourRescueOn and #adopt a furry friend!”
As fans know, a number of popular Hallmark Channel stars have made the move to GAC Family since it launched in September 2021. These include stars like Danica McKellar and Trevor Donovan, who have both signed multi-picture deals the new network.
On top of this, after Lori Loughlin got out of prison, the When Calls the Heart alum reunited with Daniel Lissing on a GAC Family spinoff, When Hope Calls.
Meanwhile, the popular programming event, Kitten Bowl aired from 2014 to 2021 on Hallmark Channel. It sounds like fans of the cute pet rescue event will have to sign up with GAC Family to watch the popular event in the future.
