Kristoffer Polaha Teases New Hallmark Mystery After Mystery 101 Was Axed

After the Mystery 101 movie franchise was canceled by Hallmark, Sleuthers are still upset, especially as it ended with such a cliffhanger. However, while they are still smarting over the mystery series getting the chop, Kristoffer Polaha has some good news. The actor who played Detective Travis Burke has news of a new mystery on Hallmark. Read on to find out what we know so far about the new movie series.

Mystery 101 is ‘officially dead’ on Hallmark

People report that Polaha, 46, spoke at the recent Christmas Con about a new, upcoming movie project. He first confirmed that Mystery 101 “is officially dead,” but added, “Which, you know, stories come and stories go.”

However, while he repeated the bad news about Mystery 101 being definitely canceled, he did have good news for Sleuthers. In fact, he has a brand new mystery movie coming. The Hallmark actor said:

But, I will say that I am extraordinarily proud of something that I’m working on right now that is in the pipeline. The button was sort of paused when the writer’s strike happened, but there’s a new mystery on the table that I’ll be able to bring to you guys.

Waiting for a new mystery on Hallmark

While Polaha didn’t reveal what stage the new mystery movie is currently in, it sounds like it’s probably still in development. However, with the WGA Writers’ strike putting a spanner in the works, this is likely why filming has yet to start on the new mystery.

Polaha did not identify where in the process they are at. It is possible that Kristoffer’s movie is in development, and perhaps even ready to be made. However, as he explained, the WGA strike that started on May 1, is the reason that this mystery movie has not started filming.

Meanwhile, it is interesting to note that the scriptwriter for the new Polaha mystery is John Christian Plummer who penned the Mystery 101 series. In fact, Plummer recently told the Hallmark Mysteries & More podcast that he will be writing the script. Unfortunately, he didn’t have any other information to offer, only the fact that Kristoffer Polaha is starring.

Sleuthers will love the new mystery

While fans are still heartbroken over the cancelation of Mystery 101, Polaha does promise Sleuthers that his new, currently untitled Hallmark mystery will be something truly special. He added to People, “Which I hope if you love Mystery 101, you’re going to love this one even more. That’ll be on your TV screens very soon.”
