This coming Saturday, Hallmark Channel will premiere the first movie of the second trilogy of The Wedding Veil. Meanwhile, the first movie, Expectations, relates to Lacey Chabert’s character, Avery and her marriage to Peter. Soap Opera Digest caught up with Lacey to find out more about the popular movies and her experience in making them.
How did Lacey Chabert get involved in The Wedding Veil?
Lacey Chabert explained that Beth Grossbard, the producer on the project, brought it to her with Judy and Sandy Berg, the original writers, about four years ago. She said, “It was an idea that I immediately fell in love with.”
Chabert explained that she had been searching for a project to do with some of the other women from the network, like Alison Sweeney and Autumn Reeser. She said that The Wedding Veil was just “the perfect world for that,” adding:
I loved the story, the romantic parts, of course, but what I really loved at the heart of it was the relationship between these women.
In fact, her favorite part about getting to make three of the movies is that viewers get to see their friendships on a deeper level. Lacey went on to explain that with the new trilogy, all three women are now married, which brings many storylines. She explained that the new trilogy covers what happens after they get married. Are they going to start a family or not?
So it addresses a lot of things that I think are really relatable and that women will see parts of themselves in.
The success of the first trilogy on Hallmark Channel
Soap Opera Digest asked Chabert how she felt about the first trilogy doing so well, and then getting another to make. Lacey explained that when she is part of a project, she has high hopes and puts her heart into the movies, hoping they will resonate with people.
She was so grateful that The Wedding Veil trilogy did so well and that so many people tuned in to watch. Meanwhile, she said it was thanks to the fans who loved the movies that she gets the chance to do another trilogy.
It’s really exciting for me because my first Wedding Veil ended with my character getting married and you don’t typically get to see what happens beyond that.
Meanwhile, as a viewer, that’s the part Lacey wants to see the most. She wants to see them together as a couple now. Due to this, the Hallmark actress was really thrilled to be able to go back and revisit these characters and tell those stories.
About The Wedding Veil stars
Lacey was asked if she knew Ali and Autumn before making the movies. Moreover, did she develop a bond to play believable best friends on camera? Chabert said she did know them both beforehand. However, she has now gotten to know them on a much deeper level, adding:
I had wanted to work with both of them, and it was so lovely that it worked out and that Hallmark let us do the original Wedding Veil.
The Hallmark star said that her favorite thing about these movies is that you see these women in a closer way. Moreover, they really talk to each other and look out for each other, which is true on and off the screen.
“We’re there for each other and we’re bonded in a way that is hard to articulate, but it’s just something very special,” Chabert said. Moreover, Lacey said how much she learned from Ali and Autumn and that just watching them and seeing how they approach the work is inspiring.
About The Wedding Veil Expectations
The first of the trilogy is set to premiere on January 7 and Chabert was asked where viewers will find her character, Avery, and her husband Peter. Lacey explained that Avery and Peter have bought their dream home. However, it is a lot of work, and they are both busy with home renovations. Lacey then teased an interesting storyline for fans, saying:
Avery has a wonderful surprise for Peter and is anxiously trying to find the perfect moment to tell him about this surprise.
Chabert added that fans will really get to see them as a happily married couple and learn where they are in their careers. She added that following on from The Wedding Veil Expectations, Autumn’s movie premieres on the 14th and Ali’s on the 21st.
Where was the wedding veil between the movie trilogies?
As there was a hiatus between the filming of the first trilogy and the production of the second, Soap Opera Digest wanted to know where the veil was kept. Lacey explained that one of the producers had it, but she was responsible for bringing the veil back to Vancouver, saying:
I guarded that bag with my life. I was so worried I was going to leave it on the plane.
She added that while she was so worried something was going to happen to the veil, she was the one responsible for hand-delivering it to the wardrobe department, ready for filming.
Life in general for Lacey Chabert
The Hallmark star was reminded that the movies were keeping her so busy, but she is also a mom to her six-year-old daughter, Julia. Lacey was asked how she is doing with all the excitement going on. She explained:
She is in kindergarten now. She’s just the light of my life, and being a mom is the most important thing to me.
Chabert said it is a whole new season of life having her daughter in school, adding that she has her own friends now in a different way and is flourishing.
Soap Opera Digest asked Lacey if she had a message for her fans who have followed her career from the beginning. She said:
I just want to thank them for their support. It’s because they continue to tune in to all of our movies and continue to show up for us that we have all of these opportunities. So thank you.
