Speaking of her inspiration to write and executive produce the movie, Roxanne explained that Dream Moms is a passion project of hers. She said she wrote the story, as she wanted to explore the importance of never giving up on your dreams. Captor said that this story is dear to her as it reminds her of her own mother, who dedicated herself to make her who she is, adding:

The hours of taking me to ballet lessons, auditions as a child performer in musical theatre and guiding me throughout my life.

The Dream Moms executive producer explained that creating the story around mothers, women who give so much of themselves, was the “perfect catalyst for this story.” In fact, Roxanne said that following the work from creation through to the air date was “powerful and exciting.”

Captor added that with her background as a professional ballerina and Broadway “triple threat,” “The passion, disappointments, joys, wins and rejections in reaching for the ultimate dream are feelings one carries around them all their life.”

When asked what it was like working with her female lead actress, Tamera Mowry-Housley, Captor said, “She was amazing, a true professional and a triple threat. She added that she was proud that this movie brought them together, adding that they are working on other projects in the future. “Working with Tam is a pleasure and I so look forward to our future collaborations.”

“This film needed to be with Hallmark,” she said. ”They know how to tell women’s stories. Hallmark knew from the beginning Mother’s Day weekend was the right slot for the premiere. I am honored.”

“I love being on set,” she said. “It probably comes from my years in theatre as a performer and director.  So being on set and seeing so many talented people bring their craft to the project is always exciting for me.”

Captor explained that from the time she worked with Francis Coppola to the movies she has produced and directed for television, she is always excited by the process, adding “I always get butterflies the night before the first day of shooting.”

For those who haven’t heard the term “triple threat” before, its definition refers to a performer or sports player who is proficient in three important skills within their particular field.
