Should Fans Worry That Kavan Smith Is Leaving When Calls The Heart?

As When Calls The Heart heads to the season 9 finale, should fans be worried as Kavan Smith’s character, Lee, runs into the blazing saloon.

Hallmark Channel has released several teasers for episode 11 of season 9 of When Calls the Heart. However, while they are all enjoyable, one has us pretty worried. In the teaser, Lee charges into the saloon when he realizes it is on fire. While fans won’t be surprised that he wants to be a hero, this would be a truly horrible way for his journey to end in Hope Valley.

When Calls the Heart teaser for the finale

In the teaser clip included below and just as Rosemary makes it clear she is going to tell Lee about her pregnancy, there is smoke in the air. As they hear that the saloon is on fire, Lee goes charging off, leaving Rosemary frantically calling his name.

Fans may wonder if this is the end for Kavan Smith’s character, but surely Lee can’t die. Hearties have already experienced Elizabeth becoming a widow in Hope Valley. Surely, they won’t do the same to Rosemary. As it is a teaser, it is probably to make fans worried and keep them on their toes, as obviously, this is a drama.

However, longtime fans likely recall that this isn’t the first time they have worried over Lee’s fate. Along the way, he has gotten through several precarious situations and likely, he will get through this one too. We must remember that he has plenty of support from Faith at the infirmary and the people in the surrounding community. While, yes, we should be a little worried, but likely we don’t need to go into full panic mode.

Also, as noted by Matt and Jess, we should remember that Kavan hasn’t yet said anything regarding his long-term future on When Calls the Heart. While that continues, we should be pretty safe.

Lucas officially proposes to Elizabeth

Meanwhile, in the same teaser clip, we finally see Lucas going down on bended knee before Elizabeth. Obviously, this is exactly what Team Lucas has been waiting to see. It’s just that when the teaser flashes to smoke and flames that this bit of information gets a little lost in the story.
