Sisters Kimberly Williams-Paisley & Ashley Williams In Two Hallmark Christmas Movies

Christmas is coming on the Hallmark Channel with a special treat. Two real-life sisters, Kimberly Williams-Paisley and Ashley Williams, will be starring together and executive-producing two films together as part of the Countdown to Christmas programming.

How is this for perfect casting? Two real-life sisters, Kimberly Williams-Paisley and Ashley Williams, are teaming up to play sisters on two Hallmark Channel Christmas movies this year. Titled Sister Swap: A Hometown Holiday and Sister Swap: Christmas in the City, Kimberly, Ashley and Ashley’s husband, Neal Dodson will also serve as executive producers on the movies.

According to the sisters, this idea was decades in the making. Williams-Paisley, 49, told People that she, her brother and sister used to put on a lot of homemade shows in their parents’ living room when they were young. She said that while it wasn’t “professional” work, she does recall charging their guests five cents each for the privilege. Kimberly said she guesses they were business-minded from the start.

Kim added that it is “such a gift” to work with someone who knows her as well as Ashley does. It gives a feeling of safety and comfort, on top of the delight of working together that translates into magic on camera. Kimberly added that it was “immensely fun” to play with her sister in the new Christmas films.

As for Ashley, 42, she enjoyed being able to incorporate some real-life elements from their sisterly relationship into the films. She said that one of her favorite things about being Kim’s sister –besides the “amazing advice and constant support” she gives her – is being able to raid her closet.

Ashley added that the “all-too-consistent ‘is that my sweater?’” is just too funny and real not to be incorporated into the films.

Sister Swap: A Hometown Holiday & Sister Swap: Christmas In The City

In the two new Christmas movies, Williams-Paisley and Williams play Jennifer and Meg Swift. According to the Hallmark Channel release, the two sisters “couldn’t be closer despite living hours apart.”

Jennifer is running a successful restaurant in Salt Lake City that she started with her late husband, while raising her teenage son, Simon (Jacob Buster, Ballers). Meanwhile, Meg is still living in their hometown of Hazelwood, where she helps their parents run the local bakery.

There will be a connection between the two Sister Swap films, with one focusing on Jennifer returning to her hometown and the other telling Meg’s story of traveling to Salt Lake City. She will be helping the staff at Jennifer’s restaurant prepare for a Christmas competition among the local restaurants.

According to the network, the two Christmas movies will “feature a unique approach to storytelling as certain scenes are shared between them. Viewers will not need to watch both to follow along but of course those who do will have an even more merry and bright viewing experience.”

Kim told People, “We got to play sisters in a movie about family and behind the scenes, it truly felt like one – from my real-life sister producing and co-starring with me, to my brother-in-law also producing, and dear life-long friends playing several key roles. It was a very special experience.”

Readers won’t have too long to wait to see the festive movies, as Hallmark’s Countdown to Christmas programming begins October 22, 2021.
