The series Ride, Hallmark Channel’s version of the modern Western series Yellowstone, was canceled by the feel-good network. When fans heard there wouldn’t be a second season, they were devastated. All the storylines from season 1 were left hanging in the air.
However, the rodeo dynasty show that stars Nancy Travis has now been picked up by The CW. So far, the network has only picked up season 1, but hopefully, there will be a second series in the future.
The CW picks up the canceled Hallmark Channel series Ride
The canceled rodeo-centric series Ride has been picked up by The CW following Hallmark Channel’s cancelation of the series. Season 1 debuted in March, but the series was canceled soon after, leaving fans heartbroken.
However, there is hope, as The CW picks up the series and will premiere season 1 on Monday, January 22, 2024. The series has 10 episodes.
According to The CW, Ride is “a multigenerational family drama that follows the lives of the McMurrays, a tight-knit family that embarks on a journey of self-discovery on the heels of a tragic loss as they uncover a twisted web of secrets that threatens to tear the family and their Colorado town apart.”
Meanwhile, Ride follows the story of bucolic, but cash-strapped ranch, operated by a widowed parent (Travis), who loses a beloved family member.
Moreover, Travis, who plays the rodeo dynasty’s matriarch, Isabel, has many credits to her name, including Last Man Standing and The Kominsky Method. Other cast features Tiera Skovbye, Beau Mirchoff, Jake Foy, Sara Garcia, and more.
Meanwhile, according to Deadline, fans can watch season 1 of Ride again when The CW starts airing it on Monday, January 22. Moreover, the show is followed by an encore episode of the new, original series, Wild Cards.
While there is no mention of The CW renewing the series for a second season, it does give fans hope. Hopefully, the new audience that gets to watch Ride will be big enough for the network to offer season 2.
The CW’s reasoning comes after the WGA writers’ and SAG-AFTRA actors’ strikes, which led to networks taking over popular series to keep their customers satisfied.
Behind the scenes of Ride
The series Ride was co-produced by Blink49 Studios and Seven24 Films, working in partnership with Bell Media for the CTV Drama Channel in Canada. Executive producers are Rebecca Boss, Chris Masi, Sherri Cooper-Landsman and Alex Zasrowny. Meanwhile, John Morayniss, and Virginia Rankin executive produce for Blink49 Studios.
Moreover, Greg Gugliotta and F.J. Denny executive produce for Nitelite Entertainment, while Elana Barry and Josh Adler do so for Circle of Confusion, and Jordy Randall and Tom Cox serve as executive producers for Seven24 Films. The series is directed by Paolo Barzman from a script penned by Boss and Masi.
As a reminder, season 1 of Ride premieres on The CW on Monday, January 22, 2024.
