Hallmark Channel spoilers and updates reveal fans of The Way Home won’t have to wait long for more time-traveling romance. The network is set to premiere the three-part special event Providence Falls on Saturday, Aug. 2 at 8/7c.
The New Trilogy Should Appeal To The Way Home Fans
The upcoming trilogy is designed to resonate with fans of the network’s popular drama featuring Chyler Leigh and Andie MacDowell.
Similar to The Way Home, which left viewers (and Kat Landry) conflicted over Elliot Augustine (Evan Williams) and Thomas Coyle (Kris Holden-Ried), Providence Falls also revolves around a love triangle that spans centuries.
In 1844 Ireland, Liam O’Conner (Lachlan Quarmby), a scoundrel and a thief, falls for Cora McLeod (Katie Stevens), a passionate yet sheltered daughter of an aristocrat.
Cora is engaged to a man she hardly knows,” states the official description. “Their dream of starting a new life in America is interrupted, and the effects of Liam and Cora’s unexpected love echo through time, forcing everyone to experience the past again.
The Angels Of Destiny Need Liam’s Help
“The Angels of Destiny require Liam’s assistance to correct the situation, and if he fails, his soul is at risk,” the summary states. “They bring Liam to the present day to aid this version of Cora in falling for Finn (Evan Roderick), the man she was meant to marry in 1844. Liam would sacrifice anything to be with his dear Cora, but only he remembers their shared past. Now a police officer in Providence Falls, Oregon, Cora feels an intense bond with Liam, who is introduced as her new partner. As they work on a major case together, Liam notices the same fiery spirit and adventurous demeanor in Cora that made him fall for her.
The Story Continues
With everyone’s futures in jeopardy, Liam must face surprising and otherworldly challenges in his quest.
Perhaps none are as formidable as his everlasting love for Cora. A time-traveling love story featuring a spirited heroine, historical attire, and themes of destiny?
If that combination doesn’t shout, “For The Way Home fans!” then we’re not sure what does. Additionally, the portrayal of Liam as “a scoundrel and a burglar” is unmistakably reminiscent of Thomas Coyle.
Providence Falls Is Based On A Book Series
Providence Falls, inspired by the works of Jude Deveraux and Tara Sheets, features a recognizable name in its production team. Hallmark movie star Joanna Garcia Swisher (As Luck Would Have It, Sweet Magnolias) serves as an executive producer.
“While filming in the enchanting and historic hills of Ireland for Hallmark, I came across the material,” Swisher shared in a statement.
“I was immediately captivated by the romance and the concept of soulmates reconnecting through time. The idea that love can be everlasting has always resonated with me, and these books provide the ideal setting for a grand, epic love story.
