Laflamme-Snow reveals that her latest role offers her thrilling challenges as an actress. However, she also noted that it was for fun and emotionally satisfying storytelling. In the recent Zoom interview, Sadie explained:

I was seeing the parts where [Alice] was with her family in the ’90s and she was so warm and so loving and sweet and open and then, in the present day, she was so mean to her parents and so closed off.

The Hallmark actress continued, saying Alice wasn’t letting anyone in, or sharing what was going on with her at all. For this reason, she said you have these two “really, really different sides of the same person,” adding:

I liked the idea that it was all about unlocking who Alice really is and that that can’t just happen in a day.

Strong female characters in The Way Home

Moreover, Laflamme-Snow was drawn to the series due to its many strong, well-drawn female characters. She said the fact that the series is based on mother-daughter relationships is so rich,” adding, “You have a lot to work with there. You have so much history. There’s so much at stake.

However, Sadie mentioned that the time-travel aspect of the series wasn’t revealed in the audition process. “They don’t want to spoil anything until you are closer to getting the role,” she said.

Meanwhile, Laflamme-Snow isn’t sure that all kids would benefit from traveling back in time to meet their parents. However, her character, Alice, definitely did. Basically, Alice isn’t really sure why Del and Kat are unable to communicate. She explained that they tolerate each other, but this is not a “warm, homey environment.” She believes for Alice, even in the latest episode 4, doesn’t have the full picture yet. She added:

All she is seeing is that there is this huge gap in what they were and what they are. She has some responsibility to heal that, but she also has to stay in her lane because Del and Kat are going to duke it out as they need to.
