The Way Home Season 3 Heads To Hallmark+ In January 2025

Since the cliffhanger at the end of season 2, The Way Home fans have been impatiently waiting for news of the release of season 3.

The good news is that season 3 is set to premiere in January 2025 on Hallmark+. The bad news is that those watching on Hallmark Channel will have some time to wait.

Is it time to subscribe to the new streaming channel? What can we expect from the third season – will anybody head to the future?

The Way Home season 3 on Hallmark+ and Hallmark Channel

After the end of season 2, fans of the Hallmark series The Way Home have been eager for some good news about the third season. The news was announced on Monday, November 25, that season 3 will premiere on the new streaming network Hallmark+ on January 2, 2025. However, those who have yet to subscribe, will get to wait until the fall of 2025 to watch on Hallmark Channel.

Kate Redinger, Senior Director of Programming, Hallmark Media said in a statement:

Heather Conkie, Alexandra Clarke and Marly Reed’s incredible storytelling continues to amaze us. Each season brilliantly builds on the one before and this season promises to be the best one yet. With the intriguing new characters they’ve created and riveting storylines, viewers are in for another enthralling season.

The story continues in season 3

In the season 2 finale, Kat (Chyler Leigh) was surprised when her brother Jacob (Spencer MacPherson) returned to the present rather than continuing his life in the past. Meanwhile, Kat was about to reveal that he was alive in the past to her mother, Del (Andie MacDowell). Plans were to also reveal how they can time travel using the pond on their property.

Speaking of the cliffhanger, Alex Clarke, Executive Producer of the series told TV Insider:

What’s the conversation going to be once they get in there? Keep in mind he’s wearing clothes from a different era. How do you explain that? In the writers’ room, we know what’s going to unfold if and when she gets them into that kitchen. But I think that’s something the viewers will definitely be waiting on as a big reveal next year.

Executive Producer Heather Conkie, added:

Huge reveal, whether Del knew something or nothing or something in her past tweaks that she remembers something. But yeah, that’s the big reveal of Season 3 for sure.

Meanwhile, on the subject of the family’s ability to time travel, a glimpse into the past revealed that Kat’s father, Colton (Jefferson Brown) can also time travel.

What to expect from season 3 of The Way Home

According to TV Line, season 3 picks up where the finale of season 2 left off, where Kat and her brother Jacob – who went missing more than two decades ago at the age of eight and is now an adult – are poised to walk into the Landry home to an unsuspecting Del.

Meanwhile, Hallmark teases that viewers will be introduced to a new era where the pond transports Kat and Alice to 1974 – the year Del and Colton first met as teens and their epic love story began.

Meanwhile, Alice is befriended by a young Evelyn Goodwin (Devin Cecchetto) but their friendship complicates Alice’s relationship with Del, who prefers that her memories of Colton remain the way they are. Moreover, Kat tries to close the door on the 1800s after making some startling discoveries.

Fast forward to now and Kat and Elliott (Evan Williams) navigate a new chapter in their relationship, while he finds himself faced with his own complicated past. It should be noted that Julia Tomasone and Jordan Doww play the teenage versions of Del and Colton.

As a reminder, season 3 of The Way Hme premieres on Hallmark+ on Thursday, January 2, 2025 and will air on Hallmark Channel in the fall of 2025.
