“The Way Home” Season 3: Executive Producer Talks What’s To Come
Speaking at the ATX Television Festival panel, via Variety, Alexandra Clarke, The Way Home’s showrunner revealed there will be a time leap forward following Season 2’s close. What’s the reason for this?
Clarke notes ties to “real-life” elements, stating, “We definitely can confirm that we do have to do a time jump, purely because of when we shoot … We left them, obviously, in November of 2024, and we’re going to be shooting in August. So yeah, we do have to, that’s just the nature of our show. We do have to jump.
But TBD on how much we do cheat things and stay and pick up right where we left off, you know very similarly to how we started Season 2 and then jumped.”
The Way Home, Season 2 closed with Jacob (Spencer Macpherson) and Kat (Chyler Leigh) ready to enter their house; however, it sounds like fans may not get to see the reaction from Del (Andie MacDowell), right away.
“The Way Home” Season 3: What Should Fans Brace For?
During the ATX Television Festival panel, the creators and cast of The Way Home stayed as hush-hush as they could, trying to avoid spilling any spoilers.
Still, during a Q&A the question was asked if Elliot’s (Evan Williams) ex-wife would be introduced. Heather Conkie, co-showrunner, paused, asking, “Who have you been talking to?”
Clarke piped up and stated that Elliot is in a “strong place” at Season 2’s close, and his character will be expanded in new shows.
While a premiere date has yet to be announced for Season 3, the co-showrunners noted during the panel that they are close to finalizing shows and hope to launch production soon, to take advantage of the current warmer Canadian weather.
