As Hearties know so well, season 10 of When Calls the Heart was a crazy rollercoaster ride, ending with a cliffhanger. While viewers were left open-mouthed in shock after the finale, the Hallmark show’s EP Brian Bird has teased some information for the upcoming eleventh season. Fans will be pleased to hear there won’t be yet another love triangle. Read on to find out what we know.

Season 10 of When Calls the Heart ended on a cliffhanger, meaning fans have so many questions that need answering right now. Meanwhile, fans want to know if the season 10 drama will be resolved in season 11.

Luckily, Brian Bird, When Calls the Heart co-creator and executive producer, has teased some information. This includes something that he promises won’t be happening this time around. Readers will recall that the final episode of season 10 saw Elizabeth breaking off her engagement to Lucas. With the possibility of him becoming Governor, she wasn’t ready to move her son to the big city.

Meanwhile, during the second half of season 10, Elizabeth spent a lot more time with Nathan, leading to confusion on Elizabeth’s (and, of course, fans’) part. This is why fans started talking about another love triangle. They asked if season 11 will continue along those lines.

Brian Bird teases season 11

Speaking with Soaps in an interview, Bird reassured Hearties that another love triangle will not happen in season 11. He explained that he dislikes love triangles, where “people pick teams,” adding:

No, we don’t see it as a love triangle. We don’t want to go there. You know, sometimes love triangles are things that are manufactured in storytelling.

Moreover, Bird stressed, “There’s no more love triangle in our minds. Season 11 is not a love triangle.”

Meanwhile, Brian reminded Hearties of the love triangle in season 1 that almost backfired on them. In that season, Hallmark actor Andrew Walker played the role of Billy Hamilton, a rather sketchy coal miner. Billy tried his best to take Elizabeth away from Jack. However, their love story prevailed and Bird reckons that producers “maybe milked it a little too much the first time around.”

However, the show’s co-creator did agree that season 10 of When Calls the Heart saw a lot of change, admitting there will be “residue from the awkwardness and the challenges of what took place in Season 10.”

Meanwhile Bird didn’t elaborate on what we can expect from season 11. We were assured by showrunner Lindsay Sturman that Chris McNally will be back for the new season. This comes despite the fact that he is now governor and should be living in the big city. However, it looks like Lucas will still be around for the foreseeable future.

When Calls the Heart season 11 premieres on Sunday, April 7, at 9 pm ET/PT on Hallmark Channel.
