When Calls The Heart Exec Says Fans Support Needed To Keep Show On-Air

When Calls The HeartWhen Calls The Heart spoilers and updates tease that the show needs the support of the fans in order to stay on the air. At least, that’s what WCTH’s co-creator and executive producer Brian Bird said in his letter.

Bird thanked the show’s fans for all their support. In his letter, Bird also pleaded for another season and pointed out that the fan’s support is crucial if they want the show to be renewed for season 10.

“If indeed there is to be a season 10 and beyond of WCTH, it will be because you reached down into your hearts and found that same excitement and passion for rallying your friends and family to watch the only show on TV that celebrates hope, faith, and love every week,” he wrote.

In a report by Nielsen, When Calls The Heart Season 9, which aired last March 9, had around 3.5 million viewers during its season premiere.

When Calls The Heart – Fans’ Negative Reaction To Season 8 Finale

When season 8 ended, fans saw Elizabeth Thornton (Eric Krakow) choose Lucas Bouchard (Chris McNally) over Nathan Grant (Kevin McGarry). At first, fans were revealed that they finally knew who called Elizabeth’s heart. However, viewers started to react negatively to how the season ended.

Many fans were frustrated with Elizabeth’s choice and some of them even threatened to stop watching the show. Not long after, McNally took to social media to address some of the viewer’s pushback. He said that he’ll surely miss the hearties who’ll choose to stop watching WCTH.

Paul Greene tweeted “As always, stay open & kind as I know u [sic] all are in your hearts.”

When Calls The Heart – Brian Bird’s Heartfelt Message To Fans

Bird believes that season 9 is the perfect time for a “reset” or a “do-over.” He urged viewers that if they want to continue watching the show, they have to recommit themselves to the official Hearties pages on social media.

He encouraged them to engage with the show’s official pages, talk about the show, and “take up e-Fangelism once again in your grocery stores.”

A lot of fans praised Brian for opening up through his heartfelt message. Many of them hoped for WCTH to have more seasons ahead.

I never stopped watching the show. I had hoped Elizabeth would choose Nathan and still hope they will eventually end up together. I love all the characters and will be truly saddened if the show does not continue for many more seasons. Hallmark is my go to for good clean entertainment. We have already lost too many good series on this channel. The newer ones just are not of the same high quality.

I stopped watching it because of Elizabeth’s decision but if I hear or read that she finally realizes that she picked the wrong one and ends up with Nathan then I will watch it again.

Me too! I love alot of the other characters on the show. But, most of the show is done around Elizabeth. And I don't want to see that stuff with Lucas. Lucas has always seemed shady.

Love the show! Would have been too creepy for Elizabeth to end up with Nathan. I’m glad she is with Lucas!

No!! one of the best series on the TV, found it in lockdown and watched it all, and waiting to catch the rest. Please keep this programme running, great acting and a wonderful bit of escapism.

Love the show, but don’t like Lucas. I think he’s not honest. Bring Lori Laughlin back too.

I really enjoy watching WCTH. It is so nice to watch a show on TV that is clean and positive. I was hoping that Elizabeth picked Nathan, but she didn't and that won't stop me from watching it. So far, this season has been very interesting, and I think from what we have seen so far there is nothing concrete between her and Lucas. I am actually enjoying each week and am in a just wait and see what happens. This is what makes me interested in coming back each week to see how it all pans out. I ask you The Hallmark Channel please don't let the negative comments deter you from continuing this series, there are a lot of hearties out there that love this show.

I think the story line hiccuped a bit when Lori Laughlin left with her son and daughter! She was such a big part of the story line! I always thought she and Bill Avery were perfect for each other and that they’d get together, bring her back and your ratings will take off, I think. I find Elizabeth’s storyline is a little boring…now what I thought Nathan would have been a better choice. How about Rosemary having a child that would shake things up! I know the show is a little hokey at times but sometimes it’s a little tooo white toast!

The show no longer has foundation of Janette Oakes books of teacher and Mountie. The writers mislead the fans all during season 8, slapped them in face with finale and now want them to come back??? No thanks. Look up what behavior is expected of a teacher in early 1900's. No where will you find teacher keeping company with a saloon owner. She would have been fired. Ratings are dropping and it should NOT be renewed.
