When the Hallmark Channel released the programming line-up for Countdown for Christmas 2020, fans noticed that the WCTH special was not included. This led to fans going on social media and demanding answers from the network.

For the past five years, fans have anxiously awaited and watched the When Calls the Heart Christmas movies. It was also the grand finale, but the plans to air it have been shelved. When fans wanted answers from the Hallmark Channel, the network responded and explained,

“While we weren’t able to complete a Christmas movie this year, we heard you and have added 2 new episodes this coming season and a special surprise on Christmas Day!”

This is upsetting news and the network should have made a big announcement explaining instead of just omitting the movie from the line-up. However, viewers shouldn’t be too hard on the network. The coronavirus pandemic shut down the production of TV and movies for months. Even though people are back at work now, it’s not the same. The safety guidelines have slowed production, meaning it takes longer to go from film to TV-ready.

What is the ‘Special Surprise’?
