When Calls The Heart Season 8: Cast And Crew Celebrate Bittersweet Moment As Filming Ends

When Calls the Heart recently finished filming season 8 in Vancouver, Canada. There was a lot to celebrate, but there was also a bittersweet moment. Keep reading to find out what the cast and crew had to say, including Erin Krakow, who plays Elizabeth Thornton.

COVID-19 Safety Precautions

WCTH was just one of many productions that had to resume filming in a completely new way. The COVID-19 pandemic caused safety precautions to be put in place. For the Hallmark TV show, this included getting tested, answering health questions, wearing masks, and working in “pods.” While other productions also followed safety guidelines, many have been forced to stop at least once. When Calls the Heart has not though and managed to complete season 8 filming without one single production halt.

WCTH Season 8 Filming Ends

Actress Erin Krakow was one of the stars who shared that they were done filming. On Instagram, she wrote, “Yesterday we picture wrapped Season 8 of @wcth_tv. It’s hard to describe the emotions I’m feeling: pride, happiness, relief, longing – it’s always bittersweet. This season more than ever, our WCTH family took excellent care of each other and I’m so grateful. That said, despite the pandemic things really didn’t feel THAT different. And that’s because we’ve ALWAYS cared for each other. Fewer hugs this season, but still so much love! I just love our cast & crew, and I’m already sad to have left our sweet little Hope Valley bubble. So I sincerely hope we’ll all be back together soon filming more WCTH!”

Erin Krakow Grateful

The When Calls the Heart star previously said in an interview that she felt grateful when filming resumed. Not only was she back at work, but she was incredibly thankful and impressed with the safety guidelines. She felt the network and production were taking COVID-19 seriously and did everything they could to ensure everyone’s health and safety.

Victory And Bittersweet Moment

Being one of the few productions that we’re able to conclude filming without a single production halt is quite the victory. Especially since infections seem to be skyrocketing again. So, that is definitely a victory worth celebrating. However, it is also bittersweet because the cast and crew have become a family.

When filming ends, it means viewers get to see their favorite Hallmark TV show again. At the same time, it also means the cast and crew all go home and won’t’ be back together until the next season’s films… provided it is renewed.
