For Lucas, after Nathan came back alive, Elizabeth ran and threw her arms around him. She thought that he was dead, so her relief was overwhelming. She had already lost one man she loved, so she was so thankful that Nathan turned out to be okay. However, when Lucas saw her reaction, it was overwhelming for him too, just in a different way.

According to an interview posted on Twitter, Lucas left Hope Valley for a while. He cleared his head, put things into perspective, and has now returned to town more grounded. One thing that the actor said is that Lucas wants Elizabeth to choose him, but more than that, he wants to see her happy and what is best for her… even if that means picking the other guy.
