When Calls The Heart Season 8 Spoilers – Elizabeth Thornton’s Question

When Calls the Heart season 8 spoilers reveal that Elizabeth asks Nathan a question. Except, it’s not really a question but more of a statement. When he answers Elizabeth, she is clearly taken aback.

When Calls The Heart Season 8 Spoilers – Wrong Answer?

Nathan tells Elizabeth, “not yet.” Her head snaps up and she gives him a shocked look. While it’s understandable that not everyone has dealt with grief, Nathan’s answer was wrong for the situation. By saying “not yet,” he’s indicating that he cares for Elizabeth but isn’t in love with her. That if she chose him that day and they got married, then Elizabeth died, it wouldn’t be heartbreaking for him. It wouldn’t be the type of grief that she felt when Jack died.

Now, we know what Nathan was trying to say, but his answer could have consequences. Will it push her to lean toward choosing Lucas? It might not have her make her decision right then and there. However, it certainly might have an impact. She wants to have a genuine and deep love with the person she chooses. She needs to know that the man she picks will love her in the way she wants and deserves to be loved. In the same way that she would love him. We will have to keep watching the Hallmark TV show to find out how this storyline ends.

That's not at all what Nathan meant when he said, "Not yet." I think he was saying that he still hopes he hasn't lost Elizabeth YET. (He said last week that he's not giving up.) If Nathan & Elizabeth got married OF COURSE he would be devastated if she died!?! Or if she married Lucas, then he would be devastated. (As always, their conversation was full of subtext.)

And how can you say it was the "wrong answer"? That's not up to you to decide… we don't know yet what Elizabeth thought about his answer or how she will respond. She may realize Nathan meant he hadn't given up on her yet & choose him.

He meant that if he lost her, he would be devastated. A part of him believes that Elizabeth loves him too. She just needs to get over her fears. The first time he told her he loved her, (before she rode off) he said I know you love me too. At that point Elizabeth was afraid to admit it because of her fear of being married to another Monte. She was scared that history could repeat itself, and she wouldn't be strong enough to get over another great lost. In the last episode, during the wedding, she didn't hold Lucas's hand. The camera focused on that. When she and Nathan spoke outside and she told him she didn't blame him for Jack's death, he reached out for her hands and she held on to his for a long time. They ended with a long loving look in their eyes. Holding hands seems to mean something significant to her. Remember when the women played that guessing game of closing their eyes and guessing who their true love was by holding his hand. She picked Nathan. I am wondering if she has a dream where Jack gives his blessing to her to find true love again. Of course, he sent Nathan to watch over her and baby Jack.
