There will be no Christmas movie this year after all. To try and make up for it, fans are getting a special Christmas surprise. Could this be the season 8 premiere episode? Some fans certainly think so!

Production On TV Show Underway

WCTH season 8 finally was back in production and now fans are waiting for any spoilers or tidbits about what to expect when new episodes air. Even though production is slowed due to COVID-19 safety productions, it looks like we are going to get season 8 in a fairly reasonable amount of time. With that being said, there is still no premiere date for when the new season will begin airing on the Hallmark Channel.

WCTH Christmas Movie Update

Even though the TV show is in production right now, the Christmas movie is not going to happen like we were previously told. This is likely due to the COVID-19 production shutdown and safety regulations that made it impossible to get the When Calls the Heart Christmas movie done before the holidays. However, the Hallmark Channel said on Twitter that they are giving us an extra two episodes of the TV show, along with a special surprise.

What Is The Special Surprise?

When Calls the Heart fans are speculating on what the special surprise could be. The only thing that would really make up for no Christmas movie is something even better… season 8, episode 1. That is what a few fans are guessing is the big surprise that the network has in store for us. Plus, it would make sense since we don’t even have a premiere date yet. Right now, it is being estimated that the new season will begin in early 2021, so if we got the premiere episode on Christmas, then it would be a really nice and surprising gift.

As for what we do know for sure, there is going to be an African-American family coming to Hope Valley. The Canfields have two children, a boy, and a girl. We also know that one of the children is going to go on some sort of adventure with Elizabeth Thornton (Erin Krakow). There is also Elizabeth’s love triangle which we expect will be coming to a resolution in season 8. There are no solid clues on whether she will pick Lucas Bouchard (Chris McNally) and Nathan Grant (Kevin McGarry).
