When Calls The Heart – Season 9 of When Calls the Heart gets record viewers

As Hearties are now theorizing what comes next for their favorite stars When Calls the Heart has attracted even more fans. According to Hallmark, during season 9’s 12-episode run, the series was elevated to the no. 1 spot among women 18+ on weekends.

Meanwhile, When Calls the Heart wrapped its ninth season on a high note, earning the No. 1 spot among original scripted series on entertainment cable. This was for while the show was on air and also in the year to date.

Moreover, the ninth season even boosted Hallmark Channel itself. The network hit the No. 1 most-watched entertainment cable network spot in Weekend Primetime and Weekend Total Day for women 18+. The season averaged 2.9 million total viewers, with 291,000 viewers being women 25-54. The series reached more than 8.6 million Unduplicated Total Viewers.

When Calls The Heart – What happened In Season 9?

Fans will remember that after the season 8 finale, where Elizabeth (Erin Krakow) chose Lucas (Chris McNally) over Nathan (Kevin McGarry.) Following this, some long-time Hearties and Nathan fans vowed to stop watching When Comes the Heart.

However, despite this, plenty of fans still tuned in, according to the Nielsen ratings. However, the season 9 ratings were down a little compared to season 8 as an average 3.3 million watched that season’s 12 episodes.

Also, despite the good ratings, it is still unknown whether When Calls the Heart will return for season 10. In recent years, Hallmark has announced the renewal during the finale, but not this time. However, after a fan queried the show’s future, Hallmark did send out a tweet. They wrote, “We will make an announcement about season 10 as soon as we have news!”

Meanwhile, executive producer and creator Brian Bird was interviewed by JLJ Media on YouTube on May 25 about the season 9 finale. Bird said they will continue the show “one way or another”, even if Hallmark doesn’t renew it for season 10.

Bird said whether or not Hallmark Channel wants to keep the show forever doesn’t really matter. He added:

“There will be somebody else who wants it because it is so unique. And we will keep making the show as long as those Hearties want to show up and watch the show.”
