When Calls The Heart spoilers and updates tease that Brian Bird, the series’ co-creator, is open to bringing Lori Loughlin back as Abigail Stanton. Although it’s possible for the actress to appear in future episodes, Bird made it clear that the decision isn’t solely up to him.

When Calls The Heart News- Loughlin’s College Admissions Scandal

Abigail was last seen on canvas more than two years ago. She was written off When Calls the Heart after her involvement in the college admissions scandal was exposed. Loughlin and her husband, Mossimo Giannulli were among the dozens of parents who were charged in the college admissions scandal case back in 2019.

The couple allegedly paid $500,000 in bribes and in return, their daughters, Olivia Jade Giannulli and Isabella Rose Giannulli would be admitted to the University of Southern California as crew recruits. Loughlin and her husband eventually pleaded guilty. The former was sentenced to 2 months in prison while the latter had a 5-month sentence. They were also ordered to complete community service and pay a fine.

Lori Loughlin served her sentence in the Federal Correctional Institution in Dublin, California starting from October 30, 2020, to December 28, 2020. The actress was first spotted out in public in early March where she was seen handing out meals for Project Angel Food.

When Calls The Heart News – Loughlin Completes Her Prison Sentence

Now that Loughlin has served her time, many are wondering if she could return to the Hallmark Channel series. Bird made it clear that he’s open to the idea of Loughlin returning to the series. However, there are many things involved in making that decision. It’s not only him who will decide. Other stakeholders need to agree to it as well. So, he can’t say for sure that they can pull it off but he hopes that they can.

Bird also believes that When Calls The Heart can extend grace to Loughlin given that the series gives bad characters a chance to redeem themselves. He thinks that if there’s someone who deserves to return to Hope Valley, it would be Loughlin’s character, Abigail.

The series made some references to Abigail during season 8. There was one episode when Henry Gowen (Martin Cummins) remembered a woman, referring to Abigail, who encouraged him to become a better person. In the April 25 episode, Gowen told Ned (Hrothgar Mathews) that he corresponded with Abigail.
