When Calls The Heart: Nathan’s Romance Poll Goes South

When Calls The Heart: Nathan GrantWhen Calls the Heart spoilers and updates tease that the hit series’ director recently deleted a poll about Nathan Grant’s (Kevin McGarry) future love life on Twitter. In the poll, he asked, “Who would like Nathan to find love this year? Asking for a friend. #Hearties #WCTH.”

Director Peter DeLuise took his post down after seemingly hinting at a possible love story for Nathan in the upcoming season. When Calls the Heart Season 9 is still in production, and fans are eager to know what to expect next season.

When Calls The Heart  – Peter DeLuise’s Wife Gives Interesting Answer To Husband’s Poll

DeLuise’s tweet caught the attention of many viewers. Some left interesting replies including that of DeLuise’s wife who shared that it will be interesting to see Nathan have a romantic storyline so that the new season won’t be boring.

“Wouldn’t watching him mope for a season or two be really boring television? Not to mention boring for Kevin to play,” Anne Marie DeLuise, Peter’s wife, said in her tweet. This is one of the reasons why some fans started to wonder if Nathan will have some romantic connections in the upcoming season.

When Calls The Heart  – Some Viewers Remain Unhappy With Season 8 Finale

On the other hand, some fans were happy that DeLuise deleted his post. Some #TeamNathan viewers took it as an opportunity to air out their sentiments over Elizabeth Thornton’s (Erin Krakow) choice and how upset they were on the way season 8 ended.

But not all viewers disliked the season finale. One fan shared that Elizabeth’s choice was made clear from the moment she met Lucas Bouchard (Chris McNally). The fan added that choosing Nathan over Lucas was predictable. Her decision to go with Lucas was a genius and creative move made by the writers.

When Calls The Heart  – Fans Weigh In On Who Should Be Nathan’s New Love Interest

Some fans also suggested that Nathan’s love interest should be someone who’s new in town or someone who once left and then returned to Hope Valley. They added that it’ll be nice to see Nathan date someone who will help him and Allie heal. They’d like to see that someone be Nathan’s friend first so they could watch as the pair get closer together and realize that they’re in love with each other.

    Nathan deserves a love interest.

Hope Nathan and the barber lady gets together!

Isn't the guy who plays Nathan already dating somebody on the show already in real life? Why don't the casting crew or producers go ahead and put these two people in the series, too? This would make the most sense. A couple of the young female characters stated earlier in the series that they thought Nathan was really cute. One of these ladies could be a love interest. Also, someone mentioned that Abigail might be coming back to town with Cody. If none of the above fits the mold for the show, then Abigail would be a great choice, even if she is older than him. By the way, I am really glad that Elizabeth chose Lucas. As soon as I found out he was a good guy and not a criminal, I have wanted them to get together. Besides, they have a lot in common, such as love of books.

Yeah, that would be great! I think she's the one who thought he was so handsome in earlier episodes.

Why not Elizabeth's sister? That could be interesting. Fiona would be a good choice, seeing they already have a connection!

The show takes a twist this season when Nathan and Lucas realize they are attracted to the other. OMG, the freak’ ratings would go through the roof. Elizabeth, realizing she cannot win either of the men, turns her resourcefulness to building a new school. Nathan and Lucas open a B and B, And Abigail returns to town and sets up a new business as a consultant to get kids into college. Stay tuned.

how about Jocelyn Hudon who plays one of the sisters on When Hope Calls? There would be an easy way to work her into the story since it is a sister show and Nathan has worked in that town several times. Whoever it is, it should be someone new to the show. It seemed like the show was pointing to Faith in the last episode and that would NOT be good. I hope the writers make an effort to make a good connection for Nathan.

  8. Guest says

Fiona is the best choice here since they already know each other and there has already been a connection between her and Allie.

Please don’t pair Nathan with Faith or Elizabeth’s sister. I think either Fiona (though she seems a little too city girl modern for a Mountie) or someone new. I think it would be great to focus more on his life and less on Elizabeth’s. Her story seems too drawn out and I think a lot of people aren’t as interested in her character anymore as a main focus. Would be great to get a fresh story and with a character people are loving and feel needs a soul mate.

Not a good storyline for this show.

  11. Guest says

They are already dating in real life and don't want to be a "couple" on the show.

" One fan shared that Elizabeth’s choice was made clear from the moment she met Lucas Bouchard (Chris McNally). " This fan obviously didn't watch the same show I watched. The moment they met, he assumed she was just a pretty face applying for a waitress job in his saloon. When he learned she was a Mrs. not a Miss and had a child, he didn't even follow up by showing interest in the child or learning that she was a widow until the Grand Opening event. Later, when Abigail and Lucas were at odds over the saloon noise & hours, Elizabeth called him a charmer who was all presentation, but was like a flower that withered on the vine. Yep, that certainly sounds like he was clearly her choice from the moment they met.

The problem for me is, I can ONLY see Nathan with Elizabeth. Their slow-burn, love-never-gives-up, love-is-worth-fighting-for relationship was on track to become of the most beautiful, redemptive, inspirational love stories in the history of Hallmark.

This was my reply to his tweet (before he deleted it):

"Of course the majority of #Hearties want Nathan to find love. We wanted him to find love… with Elizabeth… last year.

The main problem now is that even if you bring someone new in for Nathan, I (and many other #TeamNathan fans) can't stand to see the main couple together."

Nathan and Elizabeth never had a relationship like u just described. Yes they've good friends, but that was the extent of it.

  15. sapphire playz says

R u kidding? That would be a horrible sl.

  16. Guest says

Abigail and Nathan not. Henry and she are already in love. If Nathan is to hook up with someone who's already on the show, I'll vote for Fiona. I adore her.

  17. Guest says

There are many fans who love the main couple together. I know I wouldn't want to see Elizabeth and Nathan together, but I would have two choices: to watch or not. Because many would watch and many others wouldn't. It is part of the love triangle.

  18. Guest says

Maybe Nathan should move to WHC and be the main character. WCTH has always been about Elizabeth.

  19. Guest says

Surely you've never watched a show where characters evolve. Lucas has grown a lot since he arrived in HV. Furthermore, the very character who said she had this perception of him at the beginning is the same one who said many times, that she was torn between TWO GOOD MEN. And AM said both men were good. Although they both had and still have situations that need to grow and evolve. That's what makes a show move, characters perfect only for the end of the movie.

  20. Guest says

Well, above you say that growth is what makes a show move. I agree with Camille. After 8 years I do not see much growth anymore in Elizabeth's character . I'd like to see more focus on other people and wnat to see more of HV as a community and a real frontiers town instead of what it has become now. I like Chris' McNally's suggestion that Lucas will become broke, that would add some dynamic. Otherwise I think he ends up being Elizabeth's boy and nothing more than that.

  21. Guest says

It's not all about you though….

  22. Guest says

Well, I don;t know about you, but when I'm jusr friends I behave a little bit differently than Elizabeth did….

  23. Guest says

Nathan already has a true love, but HM and TPTB decided to completely destroy the show. L and E have zero chemistry and the finale was disgusting (gross) and the library scene looked like a funeral parlor.

  24. Guest says

Lucas showed very little if any interest in little Jack. There is no way that Elizabeth should have chosen him for that reason alone.

  25. Barbara Kelley says

I watched every episode and I never saw one where Abigail was in love with Henry.

  26. Kathie Nee says

THAT'S THE PROBLEM — IT IS ABOUT ELIZABETH AND HER MOUNTIE – NOT THE GAMBLER!

  27. Kathie Nee says

EXACTLY – THEIR EYE LANGUAGE SPOKE VOLUMNS. THERE IS NO CHEMISTRY WITH LUCAS AND LIZZIE – THAT'S FOR SURE.

  28. Kathie Nee says

E & L – DO NOT COUPLE MAKE! BOTH ARE SPOILED RICH KIDS!

  29. Kathie Nee says

LUCAS IS STILL THE SAME SPOILED, SELF-CENTERED CHARACTER HE WAS AT THE BEGINNING. GET YOUR GLASSES CHANGED!

  30. Kathie Nee says

I THINK THEY ARE TRYING HARD TO GET 70% OF THEIR FAN BASE BACK – THE TEAM NATHAN FOLKS. I WON'T BE WATCHING – EVEN THOUGH I LOVE NATHAN AND ALLIE – THERE WILL BE NO ELIZABETH AND LUCAS IN MY HOME – THAT LAST 6 MINUTES OF PRE-PORN DECIDED THAT FOR ME! TOO BAD WCTH POWERS THAT BE – YOU LOSE – AS DID ELIZABETH THORNTON – SHE CHOSE THE LOSER!
