When Calls The Heart’s Erin Krakow Talks Elizabeth’s Iconic Wedding Dress

Sure, it’s been more than a handful of When Calls The Heart (WCTH) seasons since Elizbeth Thornton donned that beautiful wedding dress when she wed Jack Thornton (Daniel Lissing) in Season 5. Still, here we are, close to the end of Season 12 and Hearties everywhere are still raving about it!

The character’s portrayer, Erin Krakow, recently had an interview, divulging some interesting information about the iconic dress and where it was from.

Erin Krakow Said, “Yes” To The Dress

During an interview with Swooon, Krakow revealed that she went looking for and bought her character’s legendary wedding dress from Season 5. In fact, she went to the famous New York City dress shop where the reality show, ‘Say Yes To The Dress’ was filmed, Kleinfeld.

Krakow was visiting NYC, saw the dress, and knew it was ‘the one’. The actress told Swooon, “Fun fact. I was in New York, and I went to the Kleinfeld sample sale room and bought Elizabeth’s wedding dress from Season 5.”

She goes on to say, “I had to buy a whole new suitcase because I didn’t have room to bring it back with me to Vancouver. I lugged this dress back to Vancouver, and Barbara, our incredible costume designer, she tweaked it and adjusted things to make it more period accurate and appropriate for our show.”

Another fun fact? Any soon-to-be brides who are traveling should always purchase a separate suitcase if they buy a wedding dress far from home. This is to avoid any interactions with other fabrics or spills to ensure it stays intact!

Elizabeth’s Dress Has History!

Sadly, not too long after the two were wed, Jack passed away. Still, who could forget how Elizabeth’s wedding dress came to be?

After all, it burned rather close to the ceremony when the couple’s wedding rehearsal wrapped up and the church caught fire.

Thankfully, Rosemary Coulter (Pascale Hutton) and Abigail Stanton (Lori Loughlin) were able to put a dress together before Elizabeth and Jack said their, “I do’s”.
