Lori Loughlin left When Calls the Heart (WCTH) abruptly in 2019 for her College Admissions Scandal offense. Jailed, she served her sentence behind bars and did community service. Of course, she wasn’t the only famous face involved. Felicity Huffman pleaded guilty to paying $15,000 to cheat her daughter’s way into college. However, Lori took a lot of heat as she paid much more. In the eyes of the law, Lori paid her dues and set off to resume her acting career. How did fans react to the news? Is Twitter spewing tons of cancel culture and boycott messages? Read on to find out.
Lori Loughlin – Reprises Her When Calls the Heart Role
The fallen star acted as Abigail Stanton in WCTH. While Hallmark wrote her out of the series, they also left an opening for her return. Instead of killing her off, she went to visit her ailing mother. Many Lori Loughlin fans felt that When Calls the Heart was about second chances, forgiveness, and community spirit. So, they started pleading for her return. Then in about mid-September, speculation picked up as her friend, Erin Krakow, (Elizabeth Thornton) shared throwback photos on Instagram.
Lori Loughlin doesn’t actually return to the set of When Calls the Heart. Nevertheless, for fans of the show, it’s good enough that she appears in the spinoff, When Hope Calls. The show is streamed via GAC Family. The story’s set around sisters Lillian and Grace who opened an orphanage in the 1916 Western town of Brookfield. It premiered on August 30, 2019, as the inaugural original programming on Hallmark Movies Now. Now, Lori guest-stars in Season 2, which fans waited for impatiently.
Lori Loughlin Returns – Fans React
People Magazine noted that When hope Calls Season 2 features Lori Loughlin “in the two-part premiere titled When Hope Calls: A Country Christmas, premiering Dec. 18.” Contrary to reports that Twitter seethes with rage, actually, very few people commented. Naturally, claims of “white privilege” pepper the Twitter platform. However, the bulk of fans seem happy enough. Taking the line that after people serve their time and pay their dues, forgiveness is called for, seems a common theme.
Meanwhile, over on Instagram, fans of the two shows rejoice about the return of Lori Loughlin. On the CAG Family account, many people seemed delighted about her appearing in When Hope Calls. Here are a few samples of their feelings:
