Hallmark Channel – Melanie Scrofano Stars In First Hallmark Movie, Welcome To Mama’s
In an interview with ET, Melanie Scrofano spoke of making her first movie for Hallmark Channel. When she was asked how she landed the role, she said, “It all happened very quickly.” Scrofano said they got a call they were not expecting where Hallmark Channel offered her the role. She said when she saw it was an Italian storyline, so got very excited, as she doesn’t often get to play Italian. Meanwhile, Melanie said that being Italian is such a “huge part of my childhood and life.”
Scrofano said many of her friends have “done” Hallmark movies and had a really good time. In fact, she said they “speak highly of the whole process.” Meanwhile, she said the creator of Wynonna Earp, Beau Smith, was “hyper” when her castmates from Wynonna got onto Hallmark. Melanie said at the time she was jealous, because “he’s such a fanatic.”

Speaking to ET about her character in the Hallmark movie Welcome to Mama’s, Scrofano said the fact that Amy can’t really cook is “endearing,” and she loves how hard she works. Melanie loves the passion her character has for not only what she does, but also for people.
She said the obvious relationship is the love story. However, Amy also has this mother figure in her life, Mama herself, played by Lorraine Bracco. She also has her best friend that she couldn’t live without, played by Keisha Haines.

In a brief synopsis of the Hallmark Channel movie Welcome to Mama’s, Amy (Scrofano) inherits an Italian restaurant in Brooklyn. Looking for a second chance for the restaurant, Amy teams up with Frank, a blacklisted master chef (played by Daniel di Tomasso). Meanwhile, they both discover that the most important ingredient in any recipe is always love.
