Add To Your Christmas Viewing Pleasure With Some Variety

While we absolutely adore classics like It’s a Wonderful Life and A Charlie Brown Christmas, we believe that sticking solely to these timeless favorites can be boring.

Watching the same movies and specials during the festive season can feel akin to receiving the same present under the tree year after year. So, let us sprinkle some gingerbread magic onto your holiday viewing experience!

We’ve curated a delightful list of fresh Christmas-themed films and TV shows available on Netflix, Hallmark, Lifetime, Disney+, Hulu, and various networks. This should  ensure your streaming schedule is as vibrant and varied as the season itself.

Christmas On Duty

The first movie, “Christmas On Duty”  is on the Hallmark Channel and streams on Hallmark+ the next day. Blair (Janel Parrish) and Josh (Parker Young) have been fierce competitors ever since their days of training at Quantico, where they vied for the prestigious title of top of their class.

Fast forward three years post-graduation, and they find themselves at odds once again during a holiday party at the base, where their rivalry escalates into a dramatic scene. The consequence of their antics is they are sentenced to work together for a full 24 hours on Christmas duty.

However, their initial strategy to avoid each other takes an unexpected turn when they are compelled to join forces, as a looming snowstorm threatens to ruin Christmas for everyone stationed at the base.

Joy To The World

“Joy To The World” can be seen on streaming channels Disney+ and Hulu. Joy Edwards (Emmanuelle Chriqui), a cookbook author reminiscent of Martha Stewart has crafted an image of an idyllic home life and a picture-perfect family. However, this portrayal is merely a facade.

When a television network opts to film a Christmas dinner at her residence, Joy finds herself in a predicament where she must create a fictitious family to maintain the illusion.

To assist her in this elaborate ruse, she recruits her best friend, Max, played by Chad Michael Murray, to take on the role of her husband-can you guess what unfolds next?

Tyler Perry’s “Finding Joy”

“Finding Joy” is found on Prime Video-in Tyler Perry’s delightful holiday romantic comedy, Shannon Thornton takes on the role of Joy.

Joy is  a gifted yet underappreciated fashion designer from New York who finds herself feeling quite unfortunate in both her love life and her professional endeavors.

What other choice does she have but to chase after her crush to Colorado for a festive escape? However, when an unexpected twist leaves her caught in a snowstorm- and Ridge (Tosin Morohunfola) arrives just in time to save the day-her journey could be transformed in ways she never anticipated.

“A Merry Little Ex-Mas”

This movie is on Netflix and kicks off Netflix’s exciting lineup of Christmas movies for 2025. This delightful festive comedy features Alicia Silverstone, who is 49 years old, portraying a recently divorced mother.

She is resolutely focused on organizing one last perfect family Christmas celebration before she puts the house up for sale.

However, her well-laid plans take an unexpected turn when her ex-husband, played by Oliver Hudson, also 49, shows up with his stunning and much younger girlfriend, Jameela Jamil. Talk about an awkward situation!

A Very Jonas Christmas

Last but not least, you can look for “A Very Jonas Christmas” on Disney+ and Hulu. Imagine blending the world of pop superstars with the classic comedy of Planes, Trains and Automobiles, and you arrive at this heartwarming tale.

It features Kevin, Joe, and Nick Jonas portraying themselves. In this delightful narrative, they embark on a frantic journey to return to New York from London, all in a desperate attempt to reunite with their families for the holiday season.
