I doubted many could resist seeing Justin Hartley step into the role of a lone tracker for his first TV project since “This Is Us” rounded up, and this doubt was proven true when the CBS show raked in over 18 million viewers with its premiere alone.
Well, the Superbowl helped, but I’ll mostly just give the credit to Justin Hartley and the incredible story with which the series was based.
CBS “Tracker” Viewership Expected To Reach 25 Million After Streaming Count
Based on Jeffery Deaver’s “The Never Game,” “Tracker” tells the story of Colter Shaw, who works as a tracker for hire and has to travel across the country during several of his missions.
Starring Justin Hartley, the series is officially off to a strong and solid start, with 18.4 million viewers having tuned in following its post-Super Bowl debut. And this is aside from the streaming, which is predicted to put it over 25 million once it’s factored in.
This means that the newly launched series was able to hang on to about 15% of Super Bowl LVIII’s record-breaking crowd of 123.4 million.
It’s possible that “Tracker” could have obtained higher numbers had it started earlier, but it was pushed back due to the game going into overtime — for only the second time in Super Bowl history.
Whilst “Tracker” no doubt performed strong and beat out the likes of Fox’s “Next Level Chef” Season 2, it is by no means the show with the highest viewership post-Super Bowl airing.
For example, the 2022 NBC “Winter Olympics” brought in 24 million viewers, the 2021 CBS “The Equalizer” did well with 20.4 million viewers, whilst Fox’s 2020 “Masked Singer” topped them with 27.3 million viewers.
The show’s synopsis reads: “Lone-wolf survivalist Colter Shaw roams the country as a reward seeker, using his expert tracking skills to help private citizens and law enforcement solve all manner of mysteries while contending with his own fractured family.”
The show has been described as “bold, thrilling and inspiring.”
