CBS Refuses To Comment On Why They Won’t Cover Macy’s Thanksgiving Parade This Year

CBS has got its holiday content lined up and it sadly doesn’t include Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, though the annual festive event is coming back bigger and better this year. I mean, what could be more fun than seeing a giant Stuart the Minion on Television?

The parade has enjoyed a long and successful history since it first began in 1914. However, it would take a few more years for it to be televised for the first time in 1948, and since then it’s been considered prime television. CBS doesn’t seem to think so anymore.

Does CBS Have A Reason For Not Airing Macy’s Thanksgiving Parade This Year?

Even though NBC is considered the official broadcast home of the annual Thanksgiving parade, CBS usually also airs their own broadcast feed.

Sadly, it won’t be happening this year, though the network refuses to confirm the reason behind the move.

According to reports, the network is placing importance on their morning show, ‘CBS Mornings,’ the game show ‘The Price is Right,’ and the upcoming Chicago Bears vs. Detroit Lions game.

What Fans Can Expect From This Year’s Thanksgiving Parade

CBS not showing the parade this year does not mean that it’s been scaled back. The celebration will still come packed with all the entertainment that can be fit into one day. In fact, there’s a big promise that it’s going to be the merriest and grandest one yet.

The Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade will take place on Thursday, Nov. 28, beginning at 8:30 a.m. It will feature 17 giant character balloons, 22 floats, 15 novelty and heritage inflatables, 11 marching bands, 700 clowns and 10 performance groups.

You can watch out for the six amazing new featured character balloons: Minnie Mouse, Extraordinary Noorah, The Elf on the Shelf, Gabby’s Dollhouse, Goku and Spider-Man.

Returning ones include Kung Fu Panda‘s Po, Diary of a Wimpy Kid, Bluey, SpongeBob SquarePants and Gary, and so many wonderful others.

There will also be brand new debuts at this year’s parade, including Candy Cosmos by Haribo, Dora’s Fantastical Rainforest by Nickelodeon & Paramount, Magic Meets the Seas by Disney Cruise Line, Pasta Knight by Rao’s Homemade, Wednesday’s Feast by Netflix and Wondrous World of Wildlife by Bronx Zoo.

Returning floats include old favorites like Fantasy Chocolate Factory, Birds of a Feather Stream Together, Palace of Sweets, Macy’s Winter Wonderland in Central Park, Macy’s Santaland Express, and Tales of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Of course it’s not a Thanksgiving Parade if there isn’t Santa’s Sleigh.
