Married at First Sight Spoilers- Reunion Backlash
In the last episode that aired of MAFS season 10 the reunion episode, the viewers learned about the relationship ending between Derek and Katie right after they decided to stay together. Viewers were upset to learn that Katie had cheated on Derek while they were still together and had even threatened him not long before the reunion episode.
Not to mention that everyone had learned that Katie and Zack had gone on a date between the decision day and the reunion episode. However, it seems that after the reunion episode aired, the viewers flocked over to Katie’s social media to tell her how much they did not like on this season. This has prompted her co-stars to come to her defense.
Married at First Sight Spoilers- Mindy’s Response to Backlash
Mindy Shiben took to her Instagram and posted a picture of both her and Katie. The caption read, “Today I am torn. While I am beyond grateful for the love and support, my heart hurts to see a close friend suffer from #cyberbullying. We’ve all done things we aren’t proud of. Imagine those things being broadcasted on national television and criticized by millions of people.

From the bottom of my heart, I beg everyone to #STOPCYBERBULLYING” She was met with some backlash from viewers who did not like that she was standing up for Katie. While on the other hand, some viewers thought that her actions were very noble. One viewer responded: “You are literally the most kind, forgiving adult woman I’ve ever seen.” In which Mindy responded with a red heart and “TY.”
Katie responded to the post, saying, “All the love for you, Mindy, and all the other girls. Nobody’s perfect or even anywhere close to it in my case, lol.” In which Mindy responded with, “Right back at you. As the great T Swift once said, #shakeitoff.”It seems that Katie decided to turn off her comments on her IG page which might have been in response to getting so much of the backlash.
I wonder what advice Katie, as a therapist, would have given herself if she were presented with this scenario with the name and pictures blocked…young woman recently in broken relationship, but still has strong feeling for past boyriend, decides to marry an unknown person matched by professionals, finds fault in new relationship because of strong emotional ties to the previous, blames and belittles new partner, and unable to see her role in lack of success in new partnership. Returns to old relationship for sexual and emotional release during the marriage, says she recommits to new marriage but still looking for attention elsewhere. Selfish & curish in her demanding behaviors. Why did she enter this relationship when it was obvious that her heart wasn’t in it from the start?
