Ten singles took a risk to find love. They each married a complete stranger and now they’re trying to work on their marriages. The couples have five more weeks left until Decision Day. Decision Day was the moment they decided if they wanted to stay married or get a divorce and so each moment in their marriages counts. They spent time with each other’s friends. Some of it had been good while others had need improvement and they were also living together. The couples had to find a way to live together.

Meka and Michael started off doing well. He was great around her friends and they were very intimate with each other. He would help her take out her hair. He would also talk to her about life-changing decisions and so he threw her a curveball when he decided not to take the principle job. It would have offered more security. Which would mean they would be more financially stable as a couple and so Meka didn’t know why he turned down the offer. She asked him about it. He said that the school was trying to change up the terms on him and that’s why he rejected the offer.

Only it didn’t make much sense. Meka knows he received an offer and that he signed an offer letter. The school wouldn’t be able to change the terms after he signed an offer letter. He either didn’t read the letter or he was lying about it. This wasn’t the first time that Michael has lied in his marriage. Meka has called him out before and so she attempted to do so again with this whole thing. He was lying to her. She knew he was lying to her and she couldn’t have a marriage with a man she didn’t trust.

Derek and Katie have their own fears. Derek has never really been in love before. He doesn’t put himself out there to be loved or rejected and that clashes with Katie because she has. She’s invested in relationships in which the guy didn’t love her as much as she loved him. Katie didn’t want to experience that again and so she was weary of her relationship with Derek. She wants to trust him. She wants to rely on him and right now she couldn’t do that because she was afraid of getting hurt again.

Jessica and Austin were still awkward around each other. They were both at that really nice stage when they tried to be cordial with each other and so they weren’t really being real. It also didn’t help when they received the questionnaire. The questionnaire was something they had to ask each other and it revealed a few things. Austin was quick to say “I love you”. He once waited a year into a relationship to say it and he explained it as it is a big decision he didn’t want to rush into. Austin likes to take his time.

He also likes physical affection. He likes coming home to Jessica and being able to hug and/or kiss her. He relies more on the physical than the emotional. Jessica takes that to mean that he does care for her and so she wants to give him more of that affection. The questionnaire, however, had a negative effect on Taylor and Brandon. They both revealed how they wanted to connect on an emotional level and so the problems came about because Taylor didn’t feel like Brandon was making an effort to connect with her.

Brandon didn’t initiate conversations. It was only Taylor coming to him and so she was getting tired of the same old thing. She didn’t see much change in Brandon or his attitude. She felt he was closed off and he didn’t take it well when she tried to bring it up with him. Brandon didn’t see where he was going wrong. He, therefore, didn’t know what Taylor wanted him from him and so he was unable to give it to her. The couple was struggling even as they were being honest with each other. They didn’t talk in circles like Zach did with Mindy.

Zach and Mindy did the questionnaire as well. They went on a hike and they were supposed to be going through the questions together although Zach wasn’t really giving Mindy answers. He would speak in such circles that it was hard to keep up with him. By time Mindy figured out he was giving her a real answer, she let the chance to confront him slide and so they went back to square one. They were another couple that was struggling. Mindy wanted to get to know him and he was shutting her out.

Dr. Pepper said communication is difficult for most couples. She and the other advisers put together questionnaires because they knew it would start a conversation and sometimes the conversations took on a life of their own. Meka was supposed to be talking to Michael about love. She was given the questions and she went off-script to circle back to the job offer. She wanted to know the truth. She basically demanded it and he told him he didn’t quite trust her yet. He told him he wasn’t comfortable with her and so what she was supposed to say?

She couldn’t push him. Every time she tried, he would push back and he still wouldn’t give her the answers she wanted. The couple ended up having a fight about Michael’s trustworthiness. Meka told him she couldn’t fall in love with him if he wasn’t being honest and so right now their relationship is at an impasse. Taylor and Brandon’s conversation had also put a roadblock into their relationship. Brandon considered giving Taylor more of his time and unfortunately she didn’t seem to be interested.

Taylor cared more about her phone than him. She would cook him dinner and then spend the rest of the night taking photos of her food for social media. She wasn’t paying attention to him even as he sat right across from her. Brandon told her why he couldn’t open up to her. He couldn’t talk to someone with a bad attitude and he felt like Taylor had an attitude with him all the time. Brandon tried to tell Taylor why he couldn’t open up. He pointed to her phone and said that was the problem. And she didn’t believe him because she thought he was looking for excuses.

Derek and Katie talked. He admitted that it was a red flag he hadn’t found love yet and he also said he wants to be in love. He wants to have that feeling one day. He told her he wants to find love and she wasn’t sure if she could believe him. She didn’t feel reassured by what he said. She felt like she had to protect herself from getting hurt by him and so she was already putting up walls before they had even finished their conversation.

Michael and Meka spoke again about Michael’s truthfulness. He told her how he was trying to be better with her and he gave her a candy box filled with sweets. It wasn’t much. Meka still has some issues with him and so their conversation was merely a start to repair the rift between them. Taylor and Brandon’s marriage, on the other hand, had quickly fallen apart. She went on Instagram pretending to be single and she told the world how she couldn’t find a man to meet her needs. It was a major slap in Brandon’s face.

Brandon was so hurt that he reached out to Michael. Michael was the only one that understood his very unique situation with his wife. Michael talked about it with his own wife. Meka thinks there was a story behind the video. She suspects Taylor did it because she wanted to hurt Brandon liked he hurt her and so she wants to hear Taylor’s side before she rushes to judgment. Meka and Brandon discussed this other couple’s problems and it helped them to communicate better with each other. It was surprisingly something they could bond over.

Michael and Meka later went together to get a pedicure. They talked and they laughed. It certainly seemed to have gotten them over the hump with the whole lying thing. They were back to sharing these little moments that gave them hope for the future. It was nice to see and it showed at least one couple was back on the right path. Michael and Meka weren’t flaunting their relationship or anything like that. They were talking to each other now and that seems to have done the trick.

Brandon wasn’t as lucky. He didn’t feel like he could talk to Taylor after what she did and so he left the keys to their apartment on the table. He didn’t want to be around her anymore. He left without a word and she didn’t know what was going on at first. She tried texting him. She went home and waited for him. It took her a while to check the apartment. She found out he moved and took all of his clothes. She also found the keys on the table. She knew then that the marriage was over and that Brandon had left.

Taylor had posted that video after she face-timed with her friends. They were talking about her problems with Brandon and that’s when she came up with the bright idea for the video. She went ahead with the video because she thought it was funny. She said it wasn’t about Brandon nor was it meant for Brandon. If he felt some type of way about it, Taylor sure didn’t feel like it was her fault. She thought Brandon was being overly sensitive. She didn’t set out to hurt him as everyone thought and so she was still willing to give their marriage a try.

Jessica and Austin were again discussing love. Jessica was emphasizing how much that word means to her and she wanted Austin to be able to say it to her one day. Only Austin merely thought of it as a word. He didn’t see its importance and that was bound to be an issue. They get along so well otherwise. They were thoughtful of each other and he went out of his way to make her feel comfortable around him. He would plug in the charger near their bed so that she could reach easier. They would also play in the park and have fun. They were building a strong relationship and their only problem appeared to be the word “love”.

The couple later hung out. They went to the batting cages and they had fun. It was a very nice thing Jessica did for Austin. It helped open him up. He was all smiles and talkative. Jessica took that as a good sign. She also sort of ran with it because she said it feels like they were dating with marriage in mind and that’s why she sometimes threw out the word “love”. She said didn’t mean to do it. She claims it was more like a reflex and so she didn’t notice how that tends to shut him down because he couldn’t say the word back to her.

Katie and Derek were able to move past that word. Derek has been in committed relationships for years and that was in spite of never feeling like he’s been in love. He told Katie she didn’t have to worry about him. He didn’t want to hurt her and so he just needed her to ease up on his past. She needed to stop harping on about love. He was going to get there when he gets there. He couldn’t be pushed or guilted. Derek and Katie were able to finally have fun once they moved past whether or not he was capable of love and so there was still a chance for them.

Taylor and Meka talked. Taylor mentioned everything that happened with Brandon and this included him telling her he never had to work on a relationship before. It was the truth, but it apparently offended her and that could slightly explain why she did what she did. Taylor keeps claiming the video was a joke and Meka had to point out she used the word single in the video. Meka understood why that would hurt Brandon. She tried to get Taylor to see it and Taylor was too busy playing on her phone again.

Brandon spoke about the phone thing with Michael. He said he couldn’t trust Taylor because it felt like she was doing everything for social media and not because she wanted to actually work on anything. Brandon even suspects Taylor married him to gain social media followers. He felt used and he brought up how she never apologized for what she did. She still thought her video was some kind of joke when it wasn’t. Brandon felt disrespected and he was over his marriage with Taylor. She didn’t care for him and she let the whole world know it.

Zach spoke to his friend about his marriage with Mindy. He explained how he couldn’t have emotionally intelligent conversations with her because when it doesn’t seem like she follows when he talks. Zach complained about Mindy not getting him and he fails to realize that the biggest problem in their marriage is him. Zach couldn’t complete a clear thought if he tried. He’s constantly rambling and it was frankly astonishing that his friend was able to understand because no one else could.

Zach later went over to Mindy’s. He wanted to talk to her and she had been happy about it because she thought she’d finally get answers out of him. But they didn’t really talk. They instead played a game of cards. They were having so much fun that just let things be and that was probably the best day of their marriage.

THE END
