Harry PotterHarry Potter fans didn’t expect to feel the need for tissues in watching the newly released “Return To Hogwarts” reunion. But the sweet tributes to late stars like Alan Rickman touched the hearts of Harry Potter fans. And cast members such as Emma Watson seemed in need of their own tissue boxes as well to wipe away tears.

Find out how the “Harry Potter” reunion honored late stars. And discover what fans reveal about the tributes below.

‘Harry Potter’ Reunion Pays Special Tribute To Alan Rickman

The late actor Alan Rickman took center stage again in the “Harry Potter” reunion. In addition to Rickman, who portrayed Severus Snape, the reunion show honored Helen McCrory, who played Narcissa Malfoy. Alan passed away from cancer in 2016 at 69, while McCrory died from cancer recently at age 52, noted the Independent.

Other missed former stars included deceased actors Richard Griffiths, John Hurt, and Richard Harris.  But while all the late stars got remembered, “Return to Hogwarts” focused most on Rickman. And fans responded by turning to Twitter.

“The Harry Potter reunion was so good but that ending, with Dumbledore and Snape, was poignant and had me in tears . They did a nice little tribute to Alan Rickman, too,” tweeted one viewer. And another chimed in, “#ReturnToHogwarts parts where I cried — Dan and Gary talking, Remembering the late actors, especially, Alan Rickman’s part, Emma and Rupert’s emotional talk at the end, and basically, almost the whole part at the end.”

Harry Potter Cast Honors Stars In ‘Return To Hogwarts’ Reunion

But beyond the fans, Harry Potter cast members remembered the deceased stars, pointed out ET. And some even confessed that they felt like they mourned passed family members.

“They’re like family,” concurred Rupert Grint, who portrayed Ron Weasley. “You grieve in the same way.” Daniel Radcliffe expressed his appreciation as well. “I feel really lucky to have some little bit of touch with the amount of so many amazing people that have passed. I’ll be very, very old one day saying, ‘I knew that absolute legend.'”

Many of the cast honored Alan Rickman. For Emma Watson, Rickman provided a touchstone. “Alan Rickman never talked to me like I was a child,” shared Watson during the reunion special. “He always took my thoughts and opinions very seriously, which I was always very touched by.”

And Ralph Fiennes, who portrayed the terrifying Lord Voldemore, honored Rickman as well. “Alan was a very dear friend,” recalled Fiennes. “I was a little intimidated by him. His precision, his expert delivery of lines. We sort of went toe-to-toe in a funny way, with Snape and Voldemort. Two actors can relish metaphorically fencing with one another like that. Alan was a magician in that way, as an actor.”
