The Silent Twins – Comes Ahead Of Halloween
The story about Jennifer and June Gibbons isn’t a horror movie that anyone might sit down and watch over Halloween. However, their story in real life brought mystery, cruelty, and the horror of real life. It’s not clear why the movie was slated to drop just ahead of the horror season, but it seems as disturbing as any fictional story. If you enjoy watching things both interesting and unbelievably cruel, then this movie might be the one for you.
Sometimes, movies appear that are stranger than fiction and The Silent Twins sits right up with the best, (or the worst) of them. If you don’t know about the twins, they were born in Yemen, but their parents came from Barbados. Born on a military base, the family later relocated to Wales. And, that started their nightmare journey. Actually, they were always a bit different from other children. Margaret Wallace, one of the few people to ever get them to communicate noted that they would speak a secret language to each other.
The Silent Twins – Were Sent To An Institution
The two girls wouldn’t speak to anyone, but they talked to each other animatedly in their own secret language. In their article about the two women, The Sun reported that once they arrived in Wales, they were the only Black kids at school and they were bullied a lot. Of course, that just made them retreat from the world even more. And, they developed a hate for people that led them into a life of violent crime.
The Silent Twins once “burned down a tractor dealership, causing a fireman to become injured.” The outlet also noted that “soon after that, they were caught vandalizing a technical college and attempting to set fire to it.” So, they ended up “in Broadmoor, a British maximum-security facility for those pronounced ‘criminally insane.” Later, one of the twins died and after that, the remaining sister became a writer, and today, she still lives in Wales.
The Silent Twins – Deeply Disturbing
Folks who already watched the movie revisited the trailer on YouTube and discussed what they had seen. One of them who saw The Silent Twins felt very disturbed. Marie Bee said, “but by the time it was over I was emotionally drained. It’s incredibly dark and really very sad. Definitely has an artsy side to it with some odd scenes, but overall it was profound and well done. It will definitely haunt my mind for the next couple of days.”
Others also felt disturbed. Those who knew of the twins and who grew up in the same town felt that the movie glossed over the depth of their violent crimes. However, they also agreed that it wasn’t right to send them to Broadmoor.
Meanwhile, others slammed the casting of Letitia Wright and Tamara Lawrance as the twins were identical, but the two actresses don’t look very similar. Some folks argued that one person could have acted in both roles.
