A career that started with Raiders Of The Lost Ark in 1981 has now come full circle with The Dial Of Destiny, the fifth movie in the franchise, which is set hit the theatres on June 30, 2023.

However, this is the last time he is playing Indiana Jones in the franchise, and he won’t be part of the upcoming TV adaptation that is currently in the early stages of production. So, why won’t Harrison Ford be part of the Disney+ series? Keep reading to find out the details!

Back in November 2022, it was confirmed that Disney was in talks with Lucasfilm to produce a TV adaptation of the fan-favorite movie franchise. Given that the studio was still looking for writers for the show, no details regarding the plot were available at the time.

However, if this TV adaptation comes to be, it won’t be the first TV show based on the Indiana Jones movie franchise. On ABC, the TV adaptation titled The Young Indiana Jones Chronicles aired for two seasons (1992-1993) and also spawned four specials that aired on Freeform (earlier The Family Channel) between the years 1994 and 1996.

While Ford won’t be a part of the upcoming TV series, he did have a cameo in one of the episodes of the 90s TV show. However, given that the show was largely based on a younger Indiana Jones, the series mostly had Corey Carrier and Sean Patrick Flanery playing the character at different stages of his life. Additionally, bookending each episode in the series was George Hall, who played an elderly Indiana Jones.

However, if rumors are to be believed, the TV spinoff has now been shelved as Lucasfilm has been asked by Disney to focus solely on Star Wars. This report surfaced after Disney+ canceled the Willow, only after it recently premiered its debut season. While the report hasn’t been confirmed yet, it is highly likely that the project has been shelved because Disney might have anticipated that the new Indiana Jones installment might not fare well in terms of keeping fans invested and getting the streamer more subscribers.
