Rewinding to last year, the younger brother of Finn Kelly (Rob Mills) was believed to have died after getting caught in an avalanche during a European expedition. The news was devastating to many, especially Elly Conway who had just begun dating him and was pregnant with his child, Aster.

Back to the present, Elly Conway is now in prison for the murder of Finn, while Shaun’s conniving mother Claudia Watkins (Kate Raison) has custody of Aster – something she was determined to do all along.
Next week, Claudia takes Aster to visit Elly in prison as part of the custody requirements. Elly understandably feels totally powerless, unable to look after her daughter even though she never actually killed Finn.
What Elly doesn’t know is that Claudia getting custody is only the beginning, as she’s ready to take Aster far away for good. Luckily, Chloe Brennan has been doing some sleuthing of her own – and it’s paid off – she’s finally found some evidence that will ensure the Kennedy’s regain custody of Aster.

When Claudia realises that she’s been found out, she decides she must flee the country with her granddaughter. But just as she arrives at the hanger to board her jet, she is met by an old face – Shaun!

Claudia had no idea that her son was still alive, so is left totally shocked. His thirst for adventure had landed him in trouble, but he managed to stay alive and has been recovering since.
When he realises what his mother is doing, he is devastated, and tries to make her see sense. He’s desperate to reunite with Elly and so demands that Claudia goes back to Erinsborough with him and his daughter.
