Viewers have seen Gary struggling with his feelings for a few weeks now, as Amy is dating Erinsborough hospital doctor Rob Carson. But even before that fans were calling out the tension between Amy and Gary, so the feelings have been there for a long time.
The storyline begins next week as we see Gary panicking about the money he used to pay for Xanthe’s tuition fees. Of course, the money belonged to bad-guy Jeremy Sluggett and Gary is under serious pressure to pay it back to him.
As Jeremy is in jail (partly due to Gary) he sends his mum Nance (Denise Drysdale) to get back the cash but ends up blackmailing him when he cannot pay up.

In the ends, things go from bad to worse and Gary’s family find out the whole truth about his problem. Being the good daughter that she is, Xanthe offers to turn down her university place to allow her father to pay Jeremy his money back.
Seeing her friend so upset is really hard for Amy, and she immediately wants to help. For this reason, she hands him over the bonus that her father just gave her, telling him to use the money to pay back Jeremy, allowing Xanthe to continue on to university.
Shocked and grateful, Gary cannot help but blurt out his true feelings for Amy – he loves her!
Has his confession come at just the right time? Amy feels like she is trapped in her relationship with Rob, who is pushing her into buying a house with him.
Will this effect Amy’s reaction to Gary’s confession of love?
