Mackenzie arrives after the wake of Gary Canning, desperate to talk to the Rebecchi’s. She’s got an important question to ask them, but when she sees the stress and grief that Shane and Dipi are going through after their friend’s death, she decides the timing isn’t right. This is wise, as Shane and Dipi are currently at odds with each other, as she doesn’t feel like her understands why she feels so much grief.
Needing to talk to someone about what she’s going through, Mackenzie seeks out Roxy. She reveals that her aunt Trish is moving to Fremantle for work, but she doesn’t want to go too as her boyfriend and friends are in Erinsborough. The only way her aunt will let her stay, though, is if the Rebecchi’s will allow her to live with them.
However, after Dipi and Shane sort out their problems after some valued advice from Toadie, they start to come to terms with Gary’s death together. Seeing the two in a better place, Mackenzie decides to ask them if she can move in, but just as she’s about to Toadie makes a revelation that throws a spanner in the works, meaning that she won’t be able to stay with them.
Desperate, Roxy and Mackenzie come up with a plan that means she doesn’t have to leave. She will tell Trish that she is moving into number 22 with Roxy, who does her best to make a good impression. But the truth is that she will actually stay living in her aunt’s apartment.
Will their plan work?
