When Jane Harris returned to Erinsborough, friends were left wondering why. It was soon revealed that she was in town to meet Richard, who she had met online. She soon discovered that Richard was a catfish who targeted Jane in order to get money from her.
A heartbroken Jane set out to find out Richard’s real identity, accusing many innocent people along the way. Seeing his friend so worked up over what happened to her causes Paul Robinson to step in and find out what happened, asking his private investigator to get to the bottom of it.
Neighbours Spoilers – Jane Harris’ Catfish Drama
Next week, Paul is intrigued when he hears Yashvi Rebecchi mentioning that she might have seen someone who was connected to the Renshaw siege hanging around Lassiters recently. Yashvi isn’t sure if she just imagined it as she’s been reading many of the Renshaw police files lately, but Paul still thinks it’s worth telling his private investigator just in case.
Jane still hopes that Paul will be able to find the true identity of Richard and get back the money that she sent to him, but Paul tells her not to get too excited about the new lead just yet. However, it’s not too long before he realises that Mannix Foster is to blame for Jane’s catfishing ordeal.
Neighbours Spoilers – Paul Gets Dragged In To Jane’s Ordeal
Mannix was first seen in 2017 as an old business associate of Leo, who was mixed up in the drug scene. In 2018 Paul believed that he had killed Mannix after protecting his son, but it was eventually revealed that Mannix was alive and tried to blackmail Paul and Leo because of what happened.
When Paul confronts Mannix he finally admits that he catfished Jane to get back at Paul, knowing how much he cares for his friend. Mannix refuses to give back the money, boasting that he has the upper hand; if Paul turns him over to the police, he will expose all of Jane’s intimate messages to him.
