Neighbours’ Sonya Rebecchi set to make a return this Christmas in the form of a video message.
Fans will once again see Eve Morey, who played Sonya from 2009-2019, grace our screens in special New Years episodes.
Sonya passed away back in March after a short yet intense battle with ovarian cancer. But in some forward planning, Sonya knew she could help Toadie get through a lonely festive period by recording a special message for him.
With emotional scenes that will air Monday 30th December and Wednesday 1st January, Toadie is confronted with the fact that this will be the first year in which Sonya isn’t in his life. It’s a daunting thought, making him think a lot about their life together and what her passing means for their children’s future.
Needing some company while his family are out of town, Toadie invites Kyle over to spend some time with him and the children. However, once midnight arrives, Kyle and Nell are fast asleep on the sofa, leaving Toadie to see in the new year on his own.
Suddenly he remembers that Sonya recorded him a new year’s message, but he’s not sure whether he’s ready to hear it yet. He eventually gains the courage to open his computer and view the message, glad the he did so. This will give fans a chance to see Sonya on screens again, a reminder of what a lovely, kind and passionate woman she was.
Toadie is glad he plucked up the courage to watch, and so on the next day he decides to honour Sonya’s memory even further by finding ways to include some of her honourable values into the everyday day lives of Nell and Hugo, helping them to grow into people that Sonya would be proud of.
Tune into Neighbours on Monday 30th December to see Sonya once more.
