Netflix Reportedly In The Early Stages Of Wednesday Spinoff Focusing On Uncle Fester

It’s no longer a rumor, we are officially getting more “Wednesday” than we can handle. In fact, according to sources, Netflix is very interested in building a world based on the iconic character.

Maybe we’ll finally get to learn the great Addams family mystery regarding where the rest of Thing is. Could we? May we?

“Wednesday” Creators Had Ideas For Spin-offs Even Before The Show’s Massive Success

No one can claim that “Wednesday” wasn’t successful. Apart from GI can’t safely name any Netflix show that tops it, and yes I remember “The Crown” and “Bridgerton.”

Jenna Ortega’s “Wednesday” was one of those wildfire shows that everyone, in one way or another, seemed to know about. I mean, the Goo Goo Doll dance kept us amused for months on end.

Netflix Reportedly In The Early Stages Of Wednesday Spinoff Focusing On Uncle Fester

Following this success, Netflix is working on a potential offshoot of the megahit – produced by Amazon MGM Studios. And it’s based on that same uncle Fester whom we heard so much about on “Wednesday” – did he really serve time at a monastery?

Anyway, anyone can safely assume that the popularity of the series paved a way for this spinoff, but the creators Al Gough and Miles Millar would say that you’re wrong. Even before “Wednesday” hit our screens, ideas for spin-offs have existed.

“When you create a world like this, the intention is any one of these characters could be the lead in their own show,” Gough said. “Certainly it’s cast that way, when you have Fred Armisen, when you have Catherine Zeta-Jones, when you have Luis Guzman. It’s certainly something we’ve discussed and would very much like to, in success, really branch out this world beyond just Wednesday.”

Gough and Millar executive produced season one of “Wednesday” with Tim Burton (who directed half of season one), alongside Steve Stark, Andrew Mittman, Gail Berman, Kayla Alpert, Jonathan Glickman, Tommy Harper, Kevin Lafferty and Kevin Miserocchi.

For this second season, Ortega is listed as an executive producer as well.
