Were you neutral during the real-life court case, or did you pick a side? Well, this documentary could have you rethinking everything you thought you knew about the court case.

Here’s to debunking the “court of public opinion” with renowned director Emma Cooper.

What Netflix Hopes To Achieve With the Upcoming Depp V Heard Documentary

It’s not everyday we see two famous people drag themselves to the law court and tear their personal life open for the public to see and react.

The bad, the ugly, and the worst were laid bare in the televised lawsuit that saw Johnny Depp take his ex-wife Amber Heard to court over claims he physically and emotionally abused her during their marriage.

It’s been over a year since the iconic lawsuit went down, and while the dust might be clearing and both stars have seemingly moved on with their lives, Netflix is about to drag our minds right back to the drama. Don’t worry, they promise to be neutral.

While two former lovers were busy tearing themselves apart in court, fans were picking sides and lending their own colorful opinions to the developments. However, halfway through the court case, it started becoming clear that the internet favored Depp, and regrettably, Heard bore the brunt of it.

Judging from the trailer, it’s easy to see Netflix means to focus on the public reaction and how it could have been influenced. For example, we hear one person say, “We’re being influenced by bots reacting to bots.”

The show also hopes to raise “provocative, uncomfortable questions about how the conversations happening outside the courtroom may have influenced the outcome.”

The three episodes of the limited series will feature footage from the court case itself as well as contemporary news coverage, social media coverage and “citizen commentators.” If you’ve ever wanted a more rounded and neutral take on the whole Depp v Heard affair, then watch out for this Netflix documentary. Just mark your calendar for Wednesday, Aug. 16.
