Witcher Season 2 Spoilers – The Witcher Was Netflix’s Top Series Before Bridgerton, Squid Game

A lot is riding on The Witcher Season 2. Before Covid, The Witcher was the number one worldwide series for Netflix, with 76 million viewers, surpassing such popular shows as YOU, and Money Heist. However, when Bridgerton was dropped in December 2020, that series exceeded those incredible numbers. Now, the show to beat is Squid Game.

However, back in August, according to PC Gamer, just before Netflix renewed the series for Season 3, showrunner Lauren Hissrich advised that in order to get a Season 3, they needed a “great” Season 2. Hissrich signed a big deal with the streaming company, and thankfully, she will be continuing this series that she created, as well as the spinoff series.

Those spinoffs include a prequel anime film, and The Witcher: Nightmare Of The Wolf. In addition, she is planning a second, family-friendly, anime film, that promises a kinder, gentler Witcher.

The series is based on the bestselling novels and short stories by Polish writer Andrzej Sapkowski, as well as the video game.

Netflix will drop The Witcher Season 2 on Friday, December 17.
