New Stranger Things TV Show Coming To Netflix

Netflix Stranger Things fans got some exciting news on Monday, April 10.  After four very successful seasons, and the world waiting impatiently for Stranger Things Season 5, it only makes sense that Netflix would cash in on the hype and add more TV shows to the franchise, including an animated spin-off!

Netflix confirmed that they have green lit an animated Stranger Things cartoon spinoff from the creators of the popular scif-fi series.

Netflix Confirms New Stranger Things Show

The Duffer Brothers (Matt and Ross) released an official statement regarding their exciting new Stranger Things project at Netflix.

Stranger Thing

Per E! News, “We’ve always dreamed of an animated Stranger Things in the vein of the Saturday morning cartoons that we grew up loving, and to see this dream realized has been absolutely thrilling.

We couldn’t be more blown away by what [creator] Eric Robles and his team have come up with—the scripts and artwork are incredible, and we can’t wait to share more with you! The adventure continues…”

It sounds like the new animated series may not be as similar to Stranger Things as fans are hoping though.  In recent interviews the Duffer Brothers have been distancing themselves from the series.  It doesn’t sound like there is any bad blood between the Duffers and Netflix.

It’s more creative issues, and it sounds like the creators of Stranger Things are eager to branch out and explore different worlds and characters than what we have seen on the Netflix original series.

Stranger Things Cartoon – Everything We Know

In fact, on a recent episode of the podcast Happy Sad Confused, one of the Duffer Brothers explained, “That’s not interesting to me because we’ve done all that. We’ve spent I don’t know how many hours exploring all of that.”
